They've already announced that they are starting work on a new album... but next summer's focus will probably be M. Ward's solo work which should be coming out late Winter/early Spring. I'd predict the new She & Him album to drop next Winter for the holiday season.
I don't think AC/DC is referring to She and Him.
I really think we've hit it with the sexual thing, it is used as an adjective and is referring to "someone" in particular... he is a DJ after all, he doesn't have to be politically correct. However, I would assume, since he seems like a fairly good guy, that it would be about a performer who is faily open about his/her sexuality.
The only thing I got is someone with two names. Someone who might have been born with the initials AC and switched them to DC? Or someone who performs in two bands, with both initials. That would also make sense in the quote "someone who is AC/DC"
Finally, one last thing to remember, this is about "someone." It's not about a band, or it would have said something about a band. It's about one individual in particular... so it's probably a single performer like Bowie, Difranco, etc.
A reason I dont think the sexuality thing works is because its too broad seeing as there are a few people that the clue could apply too so I dont know how you could answer the clue with any definite answer. Then again maybe hes just trying to make it really hard with the multiple answer thing, who knows.
That's true... but last year the clues often left us with one or two bands... Probably not as broad as the sexuality thing... but some of them were still broad and not even answered by the time the lineup came out.
On that note... he could have just thought of this super cool comparison to AC/DC and ran with it. Riddles have to be tough... and when it's the first one released so early... especially if it's someone like Bowie of headliner importance... then he's not going to want to give it away right now.
The reason I'm hoping it's Bowie is that would mean the Phish rumors might not be true... and Bowie as a headliner might make tickets a little more available than if Phish were headliners.

Hey im with you on that note, I would love to see Bowie on the farm. He rarely tours anymore so I would love the oppurunity to see him but something tells me if he was going to play a festival he would play Coachella since the Coachella boards are always clamoring for him and he would make more sense there. But if Bowie was playing I would be very very happy.

And it would have made sense for Radiohead to play Lollapalooza than Bonnaroo... I don't really think it's fair to reason bands out based on where they SHOULD play first... did anyone expect Metallica at Roo last year? The right money, coupled with a sweet environment, and the opportunity to play at the highest grossing festival in the world (which was Bonnaroo last year), might be just enough to attract a sought-after act.

Hey I hope your right, just my gut is telling me its not gonna happen.
Oh I totally agree. This was posted on the Lollapalooza messageboard referring to the clues, and I think its a great explanation of the clue/s.

Joan Jett has a song called AC/DC and she is bisexual...
Of course, while I could see her being at Roo, it like a weird choice for the first clue...
Isn't the real point of the clue to tease about who ISN'T playing, though. I mean the fact they know of a bisexual who is playing is perfect when you consider that one of the heavy early rumors has a name that's synonymous with bisexuality. They care more about the play on words than they do the artist. Also, they probably wanted people to buy tickets assuming they were referring to Bowie when in actuality they were talking about Joan Jett or someone of that calibre. I feel like a lot of last year's clues were hinting at acts who were much bigger than the actual acts they were hinting at (like Led Zeppelin and Oasis). That's how the game is played.
I go see a movie and come back to seven pages of a new clue thread.......I think I have to quit my job, I can't afford to not be glued to this thread/roo radio.
I agree with mojo about the clue not being about someone's sexuality........I don't see the relevance(although, it being a BIG part of someone's persona or performance would be another story I guess).....but I got no alternative
I also think it's funny that last year with the clues people kept telling us we were way too obsessed and crazy for being so, but now everyone is taking them so seriously....lol crazy rubs off apparently...woot!
totally agree. i don't think the clue is about someone's sexuality.
That is how I read it as well. Definitely a singular artist as opposed to a group. I took AC/DC to mean bisexual. How else can AC/DC be used as an adjective? In what other way can a singular person be AC/DC? The Europe part I didn't pay much attention to. I think it was just saying that the real AC/DC are in Europe but whoever the clue is referring to clearly won't be because they'll be at 'roo.
I believe the clues of Bowie or Ani Difranco on the right track.
I don't know. Like I've said regarding Bowie in the past, he's too big for us not to hear any rumblings about him going on tour. He generally hires a new band for each tour, and that requires a fair bit of rehearsing. And at some point, that leaks out. And there has been zero news on Bowie in that regard.
he gave the clue to jess, but his memory failed him maybe he needs to bake a batch of cookies to help him remember...
I'd be happy to bake some and mail them to him...
I just have no idea that was a hectic day.
Also is it true they are discussing our clues on a lolla board? rotlmao We are the source of internet rumors.
So without name calling I was wondering if some folks on here could at least read the first few pages before they just have to jump in and give an opinion I know this thread moves fast but sheesh.
The best thing about the clue thread is that someone usually solves the clue within two or three guesses but that doesn't stop people from endlessly going on about it.

lul glad i found this place last year. Bonnaroo is fun 24/7 365.
At first i thought the bisexuality thing was a real stretch but that was only bc i have never before heard AC/DC refer to someone who is bisexual. after the explanation of the two currents, which would be going both ways, the idea makes a lot more sense.
with that said, do we really think that Phish, Bruce AND Bowie would all make an appearance on the farm at once? that would be the ultimate BIG FUCK YOU to all the critics of last year whos major complaint seemed to be the weak headliners compared to other fests (namely Lolla) and their inability to look at the under card.
to the neil young rumor, i buy the ac/dc thing and the last name young, thats the type of trickery i would expect from these clues, not someone's sexuality. the "not in europe" might refer to the fact that he's not playing glastonbury but playing bonnaroo.

Yes they do... but if you think about it... the DJJD clues originate from the Inforoo community (well, Radio Bonnaroo), so every other place (website, blog, etc) discussing the clues have to use this board as the source.
I got started in the online festival community on the Lolla board (since I was going to Lollapalooza 2007), and since kind of lurked around here since I chose Roo over Lolla last year. But I am a big fan of their message board there... they discuss everything, and I can usually find every single musical leak or rumor on that board before anywhere else.
Ive been racking my brain and I cant come up with anything else for the clue, I think it either has to be She and Him or have something to do with the bisexual thing as crazy as it seems to me. Im sure someone will crack the code within the next couple of days. (:

where was this posted??? Because I just checked his last 20 messages on here and it was not posted on this board. Why would he post something like that and then delete the message?

im also thinking that most of the clues are gonna be for the mid to small tier acts. and theyre just gonna be made so that bigger bands also "fit" the clue.
then again, maybe all the clues will really just point to phish
it blows my mind that only yesterday this was started and its on the 8th page already.
lol, wait until the actual radio clues start coming out. last year, i remember waking up one morning and having to go through the 30 pages that had appeared overnight

I'm already skipping pages. I figure its better to except now that I can't keep up with anything, than to be freaking out when the 30 pages/night starts up

- I think She and Him fits best at this point.
- I really don't think it has anything to do with sexuality...seems like a dangerous topic to play with unless the act being Bi was somehow part of the band's image or something.
- I also don't think Djjd will even toy with the headliners at this point, after last years easy clues. Maybe the week before the lineup will get the phish clues.
How about British Sea Power? - Britain is a member of the EU, but doesn't use the Euro. - The Sea separates Britain from the rest of Europe. - AC/DC = Power

I also like the theme of energy or power as part of the solution. I remember a crazy band called electric eel shock from a few years ago. i doubt its them though.
i don't think this is a clue for phish, that was just my example... but do you guys see what im getting at? I dunno, just trying to figure out the riddle...
