I was shooting for realistic with the lineup . . . . the only thing I could not resist putting on the poster was Outkast. But, overall I think it is very realistic. Also, I do not know why more people are not mentioning Massive Attack . . . new album, never played Roo, perfect late night.
i didn't know they had a new album. i would love to see them. portishead first though.
Just had a quick thought. I know it's pretty far fetched but what if we saw a Doors reunion band of some sort? I've been hoping for this for Roo almost every year but it has yet to happen. I think a late night 12 to 4am Doors show with special guests would be a perfect addition to Roo. Any thoughts?
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson

I think your idea is great. Personally, don't know any doors coverbands.

So I got to thinking yesterday, what about Andrew Bird? He has a new album coming out and is currently touring. He's also played Bonnaroo before, and fits in quite well.

I feel the same way. I've seen the group "Riders on the Storm" twice the past couple years and they are amazing. Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of the original band are a part of this group along with the old singer of Fuel. They put on an amazing show each time and I would love to see them at the farm.

Here's and idea (sorry if its been mentioned before) Jack White & Friends. That would be a fun set, he has worked with a lot of different people, and he has quite a few friends in high places. A nice mix of random covers, rac and white stripes songs, and some random quitar love making. Would be a great time in my mind. Then for the encore, the Flaming lips come out for "We are going to be friends" -> "Yoshimi battles the pink robots" parts 1&2 -> "Seven Nation Army"

I bet this happens. Hate that I passed on his set at Roo the first time around.
Ray Lamontagne has a new album out. I wouldn't mind seeing him...I know that he is touring in Europe till the end of Feb. Oh, and kinda on that note, I would like to see Damien Rice again...he was really good in 07'.
Deerhunter - Had a pretty big year in 08, I could see them on the farm.
TV On The Radio - These guys have been among the most wanted for years, now, and they've yet to tour for Dear Science. This would be a great time to finally do it.
I have a good feeling about this Bonnaroo lineup. Better than last year IMHO. I just think that this year is going to be really good for music in general.

Karma for a great idea. He's supposedly got some studio time booked with Thom Yorke of Radiohead. The only problem I think would be the magnitude of the people's he's collaborated with. Alot of them would be headliners or near-headliners themselves: Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page (he's available haha), Bob Dylan, Beck, Yorke, Alicia Keys....
The Rac's playing and Jack in the Superjam seems a little more likely. Jack did Loving Cup with the Stones on their latest DVD. Since that's a relatively regular part of Phish's setlists, I could see (Pray for) that happening. Mike's Song>Loving Cup>Seven Nation Army. :}

Not very far-fetched since they've been touring (As Riders on the Storm). My buddy saw them recently and said it was amazing. (He's the world's biggest Doors fans.) He even got some vinyl sigined by Manzarek and Krieger ( who apparently both can still bring it). I would have been there if I hadn't already spent 100$ apiece for Red Sox tickets the same night.

I think these are two VERY good possibilities. Bonnaroo always books a few newish acts that have BIG years before (think MGMT, Vampire Weekend)....these two bands were huge this year and I could definitely see them playing Bonnaroo. I would really love to see TV on the Radio, too.
i think everyone who is expecting the Phish - Dead - Bruce headliner trio is way off base..
bonnarroo is now a destination for people from all over the country, with a large variety of musical preferences.. the organizers will without a doubt hope to draw in some people under the age of 30, and the lineup above just isnt going to do it...
i do expect Phish to be there.. which i am fine with.. while not a diehard, i have seen them in the past and had a great time.. i do think that the other headliner slots will most likely be of the non-jam band variety...
something like phish, jay-z, rem, the white stripes... is probably more realistic... (and better, IMO)...
(when it's confirmed that) there are two nights of phish, it really doesnt matter who else is playing
and no, im not a superphan. im just saying they have the audience to sell it out. it could be multiple sets by nkotb and the jonas brothers, but if phish is playing two nights, it will sell out.
people will be buying scalped tickets for lotsa cash just to see one night of phish at an ampitheatre. to pay under $300 for two nights (at a festival no less) is a steal.
plus, the dead (in some form) are basically there every year. phil lesh closed out 2006, and that was the radiohead year. yet i remember overhearing people that didnt know who he was...
i agree that roo attracts a diverse crowd and that people want more than jam (or they wou ld go to allgood or some equivalent). im just saying roo is way more than just the headliners.

Go to bonnaroo.com and go to full lineup. You can then review every years full lineups. Tell me where, okay, maybe 2002, you don't see variety. You'll get variety, no doubt.
I am a 20 something student and I listen to Bruce. Can you say Neil Young, The Police (even though they sucked), Tom Petty. All those shows were packed and really good (except, ofcourse, the Police they just sucked but still packed.)
