I had all 400 of mine confiscated as we came in the gates Wednesday night - I was not happy about it at all
They tried to confiscate my 300 Saturday, but I played stupid and said I would take them back to my camp. I just left and went to the other gate and walked right in with no search, although laughably that security guy made me throw away the two I had on my hat.
hmm... what's the reasoning for not letting anyone bring in glowsticks?
It was pretty great getting pelted with them at Widespread Panic. This girl tripping out behind us madly dashed for any glowstick that landed within 5 feet of her. Amusing.
I'm happy to hear the glowsticks were far fewer this year than in years past. Getting randomly smacked in the head with a glowstick while you're trying to watch a show is incredibly annoying. No offense to the aficionados of the sticks. :-)

Probably for all the people that open them up and throw the liquid at everyone around them.
i know a lot of people really like the way the glow sticks look, but I got beaned in the nose at the tool concert....it was one of the larger ones and must have been launched by some hulk with a slingshot, because it took off a nice (sunburnt) layer of skin from the bridge of my nose when it came down on me. I was pretty peevish the next day, that sucker stung!
as long as everyone throws the little floppy sticks next year it won't be so bad... (I hate it that my first post is a little whiny, I just had to chime in and end my lurking sooner or later )
yeah. what was up with the glowsticks. i brought a crap load in for sci on friday night, which i was throwing probablt about 500 feet in front of the vip bleacher. maybe it was more. we had a nice spot. anyhow. saturday night im walking in the entrance in the back of the what stage and they took about 500. probably more. all in the garbage. oh yeah, forgot to mention friday night went through same entrance around 11 and no search at all. nothing. fucking bullshit. they would have been awesome at the FLips along with the balls and confetti and laser pointers.
I am the only one who found them annoying? At first at the Police they were ok...but then as they came flying through the air....I don't know..something about it frustrated me....like the people were more into throwing things and keeping beach balls bouncing rather than enjoying the show???

I was thinking the same thing during a couple of shows, but then I decided it didn't really matter how others chose to enjoy the show as long as they didn't interfere with me.
at the FLIPS I definitely think it's all about "participating" in the show...whether you're tossing balloons or glowsticks, etc...as long as nothing hurts anybody (yes! stick to the softer glowsticks - it would be pretty hard to get truly hurt by one of them) we definitely had a couple hundred we were passing out to others and throwing ourselves at the Flips. We saw how amazing it was last year at Radiohead and had to get in on the action this year. I really liked passing them out too...people seemed so happy to get them! some even asked to purchase them and we were like "no dude, here, take couple - free"
it was so jam-packed at the flips though i did end up screwing one toss up and it ended up hitting somebody from the side in the chest area, i yelled "sorry about that!" but i'm not sure if they heard...if that was one of you on here - sorry again!
oh! and whoever is in that picture with the orange/red hair...i definitely saw you! can't remember when but i remember thinking how cool your hair color looked with your skin! could have been somebody else, but i'm pretty sure!

Hmm. I went in the side entrance with a glowstick around my neck (to see) on Thursday night with no trouble, and 4 tied to my bag on Friday night...got in with no trouble. That makes me wonder. I saw (and threw) a lot of glowsticks at the Flips but it got to the point where no one was throwing them anymore...just picking them up and putting them on

I was honestly to messed up to throw anything. I had my water in one hand and that was all I could handle!
HOWEVER I did see one of the coolest things (for me not the people it happened to). Someone threw one of the thick glow sticks and it totally exploded all over like 10 people... that was the coolest shit I have seen in awhile on some doses!! =)
On Sunday me and a few of my buddies were using up our extra "energy" after Widespread. We were camped right against the fence on W 1st and we were hiding behind our tents, when somebody cool enough would walk by we would throw like 50 glowies at them... funny as hell. The thing was that they'd give them back so we could do it again. Once a little glow war broke out back and forth across the fence. We got about 10 groups as they walked by.
I had a tube of 100 glowsticks and they were confiscated at the gate... He just threw them in the trash. That sucked, I would have hidden them if I knew they weren't allowed!
I'll admit that I was so tired that I fell asleep on the ground during part of Tool on Friday night but as I was lying down on the ground next to another member of my group, apparently someone tossed a glowstick between us so people would see us and we wouldn't get stepped on. Everyone thought it was precious.

that is so lame sts9 is getting their panties in a wad about their very own fans having fun in the crowd...what is it a distraction to them or something? very unprofessional if you ask me...
So going way back.. was anyone at the Trey show 2005 Bonnaroo? We brought about 20k+ glowsticks with us .. inflatable dolphins, aliens, beachballs, whales and let them all go during Treys set... it was pretty impressive.. there is some video on youtube of it.
