"My Morning Jacket were supposed to play from midnight to 3 a.m. last night, PopWatchers. Instead, they played until 4. In the pouring rain. For four hours. It was something I will never forget as long as I live. How good was the four-hour long show in the pouring rain? Well, first, it was pouring rain, and I didn't leave. My raincoat went from waterproof to water-indifferent, and I didn't leave. I had no food or potable water, and I didn't leave. And then the dude behind me whipped it out and PEED ON MY FOOT while trying to relieve himself into a bottle, and I DID NOT LEAVE. No, the My Morning Jacket four hour concert in the pouring rain was so good that a man peed on me, and neither one of us was willing to break the MMJ spell long enough to walk away from each other. We just stood there. Pee-er. Pee-ee. Together. Soaked in rain, pee, and wonder. THAT is how good last night's My Morning Jacket show was."
I just love the pee part. Not sure I would have stayed if I had been peed on!

I was lucky enough to get really close to the front for this one with a perfect view of Jim James all night. I can not put into words what this concert did to me. I am a hardcore Pearl Jam fan and although PJ's bonnaroo show was the best I had ever seen, MMJ gave me the best show of my life!
That was the best 4 hours I've ever spent in the cold rain, haha. It was truly epic and I can't wait to hear the boot.
how effing INCREDIBLE was this show???? good lord i think it was the best show i have ever seen. (aside from my early days of bob dylan shows, another category). YES YES YES!! As I was screaming my head off raising my hands up to the rain in pure unadulterated bliss, I thought of U2's epic rain show at Red Rocks back in the day....there was something just in the air, the intimacy and forcefulness every thing operating on all cylinders. something happening there that night in every which way up down and around.... magical. It may only be my opinion but this is the band that is and will set the bar for all bands now and in the future. these guys know exactly what they're doing.... simply amazing.
p.s.
"call tyrone" = brilliant. and I'll be damed if that wasn't the sexiest cover i've heard! ow. ow.
ohhhh yes....the boot of this show will have to be hunted down and devoured for the benefit of human hearts and souls. Sweet Jesus, this band is ahhhhhh-some!!!!!!!
they were nuts man, I missed the first 3 covers after the set break b/c I went to camp to get another shirt cause I thought the rain was over, then I went to Tiesto for a few, then made it back in time for Wordless Chorus. The rain was running down the red banners off the top of the stage making it look like a waterfall almost as if they planned that shiz...........

By far the most amazing, mind blowing, life-renewing show I have ever seen. I'm quite sure I died at least three different times during this show. I've been trying to find words to describe the experience that was MMJ that night, but I cannot. It will go down in history-- the epitome of all epics and I cannot believe I was there to witness it. It makes me incredibly happy reading this thread and knowing that it wasn't just me, it wasn't just the atmosphere, this band truly made magic happen that fateful Friday night.
Dear god I need to get a copy of this show--at least just "Oh, Sweet Nuthin'" so I have proof it actually happened and it wasn't a mass hallucination.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

My Brother and I skipped out half way through Chris Rock, who was quite good btw, and bee lined it straight to the Which stage, where we parked it on the ground for 3 1/2 hours before the show. Nearly 8 hours later we left the Which stage as changed people.
Front & center for a 4 hour MMJ Roo homecoming can do that to you.

Absolutely the best and most amazing show in my Life. 4 hours long and i was on the rail up front for 3 of them in front of the speaker. I swear that was the best rain of my life, Thursday and Friday were dry and hot as hell, then it started looking like it was going to rain during Metallica, and all of a sudden it starts pouring rain and MMJ just feeds off of it. I think the rain ruined their glowstick launching machines because they showererd the crowd with glowsticks and started an amazing glow stick war at the beginning of their set. My Morning Jacket was Absolute ROCK N ROLL at its best. I took a gamble recording videos of the show in the rain, and I doubt many other people did and my camera held up. As soon as youtube is done updating I am uploading One Big holiday from the rail, and then the glowstick war is next along with the final song where Zach Galafianakis came out on stage in a dress.
I repeat again:
I will never see a better show than that in my life.
damn! i wish i had seen more. i got caught up at my campsite and could hear it OK, but once Lay Low started to play I knew I had to be THERE, despite the rain. my girlfriend was too tired to go so i boogied on down alone with a poncho on.
so i got to see a few covers, Anytime and a bunch of songs from It Still Moves. i'm kickin myself for not staying for the 2nd set. but what i did see was INTENSE. this was my fifth time seeing MMJ but it was never this good.
DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THIS? during Steam Engine, the rain started pouring down even harder just as the song reached its height or climax or whatever you call it. it was like MMJ choreographed the weather to go along with them. UNREAL! i'm pretty sure other people noticed it. it was a slice of heaven, i tell ya.
i was on such a high after they closed the set with One Big Holiday, and I thought if i stayed for the 2nd set i'd wear myself out. but i will never miss out on live MMJ again no matter how much sleep i lose.
i remember looking up in the air and seeing all those glow sticks flying everywhere and those big inflatable balls bouncing as it rained and i thought to myself that if the world ended right then i wouldn't even care. it's just depressing that i probably won't have another concert experience like that ever again.

I also noticed that the rain seeming to be choreographed. I remember a moment when the rain started falling in sheets just after the build up to a high point, and everyone in my area just looked around wide-eyed like "is this really happening?!" Simply the best show I have ever seen. Epic. All 4 hours I was near the front and center, and even the volume of rain and glowsticks appeared to be coordinated with the music. Walking back to the camp, I was just shaking my head in disbelief. So emotional.
Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream
I was there in a giant mushroom costume...two really nice guys let me on the rail for pics, stage left, and we stayed for the entire set despite a hat that was VERY HEAVY after all that rain.
I can't begin to explain how amazing that 3 hours of my life were.
I've never danced like that in my life. If you saw two crazy girls on the left side of the stage in patchwork long skirts, running around dancing like lunatics, that was me and my friend
When One Big Holliday started, I started going nuts and spilled half my cup of beer on my boyfriends face. He laughed for quite some time And I'm glad others agree with me that they fucking controlled the weather that night! It wouldn't have been the same without the downpours.
Hope everyone else's Roo was as fantastic as mine!
Also I have a question. Before the show I was waiting for MMJ to begin playing and while I was waiting a song loop came on over the speaker system that was kind of cool. It was playing for a good deal of time, maybe about like 20 minutes. I was wondering if anyone knew the song's name.
It without question the most fanfuckintastic show of that insane weekend. I've never experienced anything like that, they let me rock out for 4 hours straight. After a couple of minutes I was fully soaked and it just got me so much more into the show. In 4 hours they didint play a single song that I didn't like, I can't say that about any other act at the roo. I've never seen a band give eevrything they possibly could to their fans in one show, they just left it all out there, and it was mind blowing.
Then I saw so fucking lucky to see them again last night in Montreal. They played a mere 2 hour set. In just a few days i saw that epic late night set on the Which stage with all of you, and then a coupl days later I was right in front of jim james in a 500 capcity club. The best few fucking days of my life. I'm convinced that MMJ is the best band in the world right now and I'm lovin it
