46. This year will be 3 in a row for me. I'm all about the VIP hotel package though. Having a dry warm bed, air conditioning, and a place to shower is just essential to my recuperation. I've also become a big fan of the Waffle House across the street from the hotel. One thing us oldsters know is the importance of a big breakfast to lay a solid foundation for the rest of the day.

The Waffle house is off the hook - triple smothered covered hash browns are a sure fire hang over helper!
damn you can get waffle house everday of the year. there is only 4 days a year to get breakfast on roo shakedown. breakfast is my favorite shakedown meal. i love the breakfast sandwiches that im too lazy to ever cook for myself. there was a campground vendor selling french toast friday morning last year. damnn that was good. although we have hit wafflehouse every year right as we left roo.

I hit up the Mickey D's on the way back to I-40 on the way out every year and usually run into a LOT of Rooers there too. But I agree with dude, the Shakedown breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. The garlic grilled cheese places sell garlic egg and cheese and there is always a steak, egg, and cheese place. Plus who can forget the great Bloody Marys you can get....And a pickle!!

22 and my 3rd Roo. I came back and told all my friends after the 1st one I'd go till I died. I've always been in good shape but Roo always puts me in my place. Never have my ankles been as big as last Roo. Luckily Im young and figure on catchin at least another 30-40 great Roos. I think the mixture of ages, races, and nationalities makes it the best time in the world.

I'm with you on this -- but I'd also include the Centeroo vendors.
I can't remember what the fu*k it was, but there was this ginormous breakfast thingy that was right inside the main entrance and about a two minute walk from tent only section. Not gonna lie, I'm a tad blurry on the specifics of the meal, but holy sh*t, I won't forget plopping down next to a tree with that thing in my lap. Just staring out and surveying the scene and devouring that beast of a sandwich...that's my happy place.

22. Those of you near a WaHo, don't take it for granted!! I've spent most of my life in Georgia and now that i'm up in wisconsin, I wake up at 3am in a cold sweat, craving a BLT and some bad jukebox tunes. And alas, i have no where to go!
When I first moved to Austin, the closest Waffle House was in Dallas. You better believe we ate there everytime we went to Dallas. I believe there is one in Austin now, but when I lived there I sure missed it. Especially having one 3 minutes from my house in Louisville.
Yeah, going or coming from the Roo is the only time I ever eat at the wafflehouse. I avoid the wafflehouses around here. Or as we call them, the awfulhouse. Yes we are a clever bunch.
I usually steer clear of ours. An employee is behind bars because he got caught spitting in a Police officer's food, and so the WH usually get's a bad rep around here. That being said, I'm not scared of eating there. Just most of those who go with me to eat are. I actually was in several classes with the guy, and let him cheat on several tests. He's really an ok dude.
There's so much crazy shit that goes down around here. Not only am I from the town where they spit in food, but also where the Nitro-girl teachers sleep with middle schoolers.

I'm 38, & will be 39 in May. My hubby's 45. Our son will be 15 on Ticket release (aka Valentine's ) day. Since I could only vote once, I went with my age.
The Waffle House discussion is hilarious. My husband used to drag me there every Sat. night, after clubbing. There was no other place open, & it was where "those who had imbided a bit too much" gathered. ;D I'm not a fan, but made the mistake of telling him about this discussion. I've avoided it for years, but thanks to you guys, I guess I'll be eating at WH again this summer.
