End of the month and I am a little broke but made an impulse purchase today, the macaroni nights will be worth it. 1.32 gallons of Hopslam
What? A mini-keg of Hopslam! Dopeness.
Quotin' myself as I saw four of these bad boys come into my local shop today. I spent plenty already though and I still have some 3-4 cans of Hopslam in my fridge. And it was $39.99, just over what I spent on my six-pack.
Just bought my ticket to Untapped Festival in Austin. I think last year was their fist year in Austin, it's held at the same place as Levitation. Took a peak at last years list, and was impressed, so went ahead and picked up presale tickets since it did sell out last year. Excited to try it out. Will definitely expose me to lots I haven't been able to try yet.
Its been a rumor that's been going around for a while. But seriously over the past couple years they have expanded so much its already starting to feel more commercialized already. But I don't blame any brewery that sells. Joey Redner was quoted saying for X amount of dollar he would hate craft beer. If I had a successful business and someone offered me enough money that me and my family wouldnt have to worry about anything the rest of my lives, I would probably take it too.

They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

Very nice. I have my ticket secured for one in Knoxville in April. It's not as big and doesn't have bands, so I'm feeling a little inferior right now. Haha.

You should come to Embrace the Funk this year, let me know and I will get you in.

Picked up bombers of Even More Jesus (Evil Twin) and Goat Boy (Southern Tier) today.
Gonna let the former sit a while, probably will have the latter on Sunday while bottling homebrew.
Pretty sure I broke open a bottle of Even More Jesus from last year a few weeks ago and it was great. Absolutely loved Goat Boy from 2014 and hope to find a bottle this year. But everythin' from Southern Tier in 2015 to what I've got on tap now (Creme Brûlée and Right-O-Way IPA) has not met my standards from previous years. They've been known fer their bold flavorin's, but they really turned it up to 11 this last year and I'm not as much a fan.
Stopped by one of my locals again tonight (Gizmo Brewery) fer a rerelease of their peanut butter brown ale called Arachibutyrophobia (the fear of peanut butter stickin' to the roof of your mouth) and picked up some bottles. Their brewmaster (a regular at my bar) says the peanut butter flavor doesn't shelve well, so now I've got maybe three or four bombers to drink whilst they try and improve it's shelf life so they can turn it into a seasonal.
And gang lemme tell you...this shit is delicious. I hope their business continues to expand 'cause these folks have some great beers goin' on. Might have to sneak a bottle of their blueberry saison to Brunch this year 'cause it is just too damn good on them hot days.
Me and and the friend who's accompanying me this year to the fest (/brunch) are discussing what the best Midwestern canned beer to bring is to this fest is. strong beers preferred. Anyone got any recommendations?
Grimm's Lambo Door (Imperial IPA) Baxter's Window Seat (Porter with coconut and almond) Firestone Walker XIX Anniversary Ale (Strong ale) Left Hand's Hard Wired [Nitro] (Porter)
The first three were excellent. The fourth was merely "alright"

if you're coming from Minnesota, I'll trade you something from (southern/eastern) New England for a few cans of Surly's Todd The Axe Man or Abrasive Ale

IPA, but of course good taste is nice too. I'll definitely check that out

I am not well versed on Midwestern breweries. If you want something easy to find, I know PorchRadio is a fan of Founder's All Day IPA, but I can't vouch for it personally since I think IPAs are the Devil's work. In general, I would suggest something lighter. It's hot as balls all the time, so anything dark and heavy will be gross even if you like it in general.

That is good. Anything Bell's (Two Hearted Ale is fantastic). Favorite brewery is Revolution. Their Anti-Hero IPA, Rosa, Fist City IPA, Mosaic Hero IPA, and Bottoms Up Wit are amazing (really all their beers are). Right now drinking Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn Double IPA and it is fantastic!

+1 for anything bell's. two hearted ale is my favorite. very, very good.
Tonight, I had some Oude Lambik from Hanssens, an unblended mature straight lambic. That is by far the funkiest brew I've had to date. The first sip took me by surprise, I couldn't place the flavor. Took another, and it hit me.
BLEU CHEESE!
Unmistakable taste and even smell of bleu cheese. The most surprising part? It was actually pretty good! Not something I'd want massive amounts of, but my small pour was a nice change of pace.

Oh man. That is different. The liquor store I sometimes go to for high gravs has an oyster beer. I just can't quite bring myself to do it even though oysters are a good taste.

Ya, it's not something I'd want a bomber of, but a small pour is nice. I wish you could have seen my face when I realized the flavor was bleu cheese. My mind was blown. I took another sip, yep, that's what it is! Thankfully I like the funk of bleu cheese.
Speaking of oyster beers, Jester King did an oyster mushroom and sea salt beer. I still haven't brought myself to try it. I have a not so great culinary relationship with mushrooms.

Mmm, IPAs! I can personally attest to Founder's All Day IPA bein' fantastic. I think I brought a 12-pack to The Farm last year and it went down smooth.
