We're trying to get my pops, who is a quadriplegic, on medicaid so he can come live at home. There is no way my family can afford to pay for caregivers, but he wants to come home more than anything after being in hospitals and nursing homes since the start of August..
Besides being paralyzed from the chest down, he is perfectly able and willing to work, and he WANTS to work. He used to run his own business doing biz2biz marketing, and he would like to try doing it again... He would only be able to work a few hours a week, 10 at most, and he wouldnt make much at it.. it would improve his spirits being able to contribute even a little bit, but yeah, medicaid would go pooft and he wouldnt have caregivers if he worked. :/
Eventually Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, etc. will have to be completely overhauled, but that won't happen until there is absolutley no way to avoid it. Republicans are commited to proving that Gov't is incompetent in order to make it smaller and Democrats can't afford to piss off their core.

i think the biggest problem is that both parties are too short-sighted to really look at what will help us in the long-run. of COURSE reforming anything will cost money upfront...DUH! its like an investment...you have to put in a lot of effort at first for anything good to come it.
it doesn't help that the next generation of leaders is becoming more and more spoiled and selfish. i feel like we're slowly self-imploding.
change is needed fo sho, but neither party really has a good answer for this problem...i just dont agree with hilary saying that everyone will be covered in some form, that it will be docked from pay to cover it...what if you have a person who is completely healthy, never had a problem, and does not want insurance...is hilary going to cut that persons wages when the person does not want that?
and lets not forget about the illegals...are our tax dollars going to pay for all their costs? granted, its already happening, but imagine when 12 million, or whatever the number is, illegals are covered my medicaid

To be fair, everyone needs to be included. Everyone needs healthcare eventually, whether they think they want it or not. Prevention is just as important, and more efficient than treatment. Shared risk, no one knows what the future holds. If someone opts out, then loses there job, should they be cut off and allowed to die? Many are now.
ok - to speak my mind - I think socialized medicine would really really suck - but that is just me because I have experienced it at its finest as a military dependant - I hope that we NEVER go to socialized medicine

i agree with this point. i don't like the idea of it being taken mandatorily from my paycheck, but we do need to be covered. i've been paying for health insurance for 27 years either through my job or on my own. i've been completely healthy and never had a problem until 3 months ago. over christmas i contracted the mrsa staph infection and it ate a hole THROUGH my hand in less than 24 hours. i can't imagine what i would have done if i didn't have any insurance. the costs were astronomical for hospital stays and hand surgeries.
Now you just told me that friendship is all I'm forced to repair the breech in my wall Illusions and dreams, as usual, it seems Sabra girl, they've been my downfall

You know what grinds my gears? well I'll tell ya....
Under What stage there is this thread called "the one single thing that bothered me about roo" and THAT my friends, drives me crazy! The "one single" thing...it's like a double negative but it's a double...singular? My apologies to the author, it's just the English major in me and I know it's obsessive but honestly, has anyone else notice this typo?

Social security could be fixed easily with a rise in the taxable income level. Now any income over $97,000 is not taxed. If the cap was raised to $150,000 and thereafter adjusted for inflation Social sevurity would be fixed for the next 50-100 years.
I willing to make that a part of the Boz/Troo '08 platform (pending apporoval of the head of the ticket, of course)

LOL - I think he would agree - after all I do and everyone knows that the woman is always the true power behind the man
When people are on message boards and they don't bother to read anything but the very first post in a thread and respond to that post even if the thread if 5 pages long and has wondered completely off of that topic.

What Really Grinds my Gears is my roommates incessant need to play her music loud enough for me to hear it clearly through the wall. We have seperate rooms for privacy, I think that should include my not having to listen to 'SUPA MAN DAT HOE'
^^I don't know barnies are kinda a different thing - those Bratz dolls are horrible - not allowed in the house - but then again - neither is Barney or Dora the illegal immigrant

The creater of Bratz was sued by Mattel. Aparently the guy used to work for them and they say he ripped off Barbie. Except Barbie ISN'T a street walker. Barbie is a lawyer, an astronaught, and a fairy, just to name a few.

New Orleans air port security as well!! Man are those people just ... like...aaaahahhahahahah!!! I can't think of a word to descibe them. It's a crappy airport to begin with and now people that fly in and out have to deal with you...you... booty faced people and your booty faced attitudes! Smile for fuck sake! Your job is easy. You know who has the right not to smile...the janitor that has to clean up after you and your booty face. Hell he could punch me in the face and I would understand. But you ... youshould be so happy that you fart rainbows!

WHAT REALLY GRINDS MY GEARS when my absentee father decides to call and check on family or comes into town says he is coming by to visit and then decides to go to the bar to hang out or says he's coming by and then goes and spends time and money on other non blood related grandkids and backs out from coming to see only blood related grandchild.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
