So....after sweating bullets & biting my nails for 2 weeks trying to carefully word my written justification for a raise, I just got email confirmation that my boss supports it. Now it has to go to HR, but I've been told by the Faculty Senate President that the top HR guy is on board. She's been bending his ear on my behalf for months. Yay for that. And big-time YAAAAAAAAY for what looks like a possible raise in my future!!!

Which leads me into my Yay. As many know, this year and last year, I have been answering a bunch of questions on the official Bonnaroo webpage. I decided to send them an email asking about a shout-out for the work. I was expecting a poster or shirt or a "check out this awesome guy" post on the facebook. The first reply was that they had noticed me and did want to recognize me but asked for a little time while they were working on additions/ticketing/etc. The second reply asked if I had gotten my ticket for the festival this year (which is the exact moment in which sh*t got real). I replied that we had. I opened my email after lunch to find that I had gotten my third reply which stated that, since I already had GA tickets, that they were going to go ahead and upgrade those to VIP. Needless to say, I peed a little. I have spent the last little bit looking through the forum to even find out what the perks even are as going VIP has not been on my radar before. Yay!
P.S. Still chilling in the best RV at Roo. Just gonna enjoy some VIP perks.
DAVE & ABRA: on behalf of Camp Inforoo VIP, I extend a hearty WELCOME! The madness, mayhem, and merry-making (including, but not limited to, leg humping, face licking, and general shenanipants-wearing) begins in 23 days!!! So glad y'all get to have perks & schwag! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
(PS: VIP perks include 1 free official 'Roo tee and poster per person!)

I remember givin' my two weeks at my first job and my boss didn't see me fer like two days. When I came back to work he pulled me into the office and gave me his boss look sayin: "What the fuck is this? You can't leave. You need to make more money? I'll pay you twice what the other servers make before tips." Other than relatin' to folks makin' more money I'm not sure what the relevance is to the thread, but I've had a few beers. And that was still one of the best bosses I've ever had.
The only time I ever quit a job, I called out and said I was not coming back ever.
At my current job, I got another nearly $200 bonus. To be paid June 1st.
This is awesome! Congrats!! That's some great Bonnaroo spending money there! We are supposed to get quarterly bonuses at my job, but we didn't. Reason #587,6849,674 why I'm excited to be leaving this place.
I had a shameful moment kind of like this when I was in undergrad at the University of Oklahoma. I was roped into taking a job for the "Alumni Outreach Program" with a few friends, which essentially was soliciting for money from graduates. I called everyone--people who had JUST graduated and were broke, looking for money also, and even 90-year olds who didn't even remember they WENT to OU.
It was awful because you had a script and despite what people told you, you were required to ask for money 3 times within the phone call. And my bosses--yes, plural--would monitor our phone calls and we'd get written up if we didn't ask for money 3 times. I lasted all of, oh, I don't know, 4 weeks there. I was getting ready for it one afternoon and as I was locking my dorm door, I said, "eff this,” went back into my dorm and quit via email. They never wrote me back.
The only time I ever quit a job, I called out and said I was not coming back ever.
Awesome. I would LOVED to have done that, but I have three days left full time and no replacement yet. It would have screwed my coworker so bad, and I'm OK with her. Leaving WITH notice might leave our dept behind. I'm even staying on PRN to help out a couple days a week or something and help train my yet-to-be-determined successor.

I'm so glad you guys get to enjoy all of this! If Caleb needs help picking out Lego stuff, I'm his gal.
PS. Seriously, you can bring alcohol on the lazy river?!? Um, I will be making a visit this year.
