You know I'm not one for shameless plugs, and this is no different. A great Knoxville band just got added to the Cafe this week. I highly recommend checking out Marina Orchestra. I know about half of the band (there are like 10 or 11 members but about 6 usually play live), a few of whom I know pretty well. They put on a really fun live show and have some really talented musicians. If you remember Fine Peduncle from last year (or Moogfest, or anywhere else he's played), he's really good friends with these guys (although the musical style is pretty different). You can find me at the Marina Orchestra show, whenever it is.

They take a Broken Social Scene approach to being a band. There are a lot of them and they're there to just have a good time and play some good music with a lot of friends.
I forgot to mention what they sound like... here is the description from the Roo site:
Marina Orchestra is inspired by music from all over the world, and there is an inherent jubilance that the sun-soaked eleven piece group radiates. It’s exotic, yet familiar. It’s a love of global music filtered through the ears of “indie rock” kids. It’s ripe with homages and a well-rounded respect for the whole history of music. But mostly, it’s a party.
