Checking him out today for the first time, and this is so far up my alley, I can't believe I've never heard this guy before. Pending crazy conflict, I will absolutely be at this show. Nice, Roo. Nice.

Like any soul music geek, I'm a big Darondo fan. But I also had the privilege of seeing him perform a few years ago at Outside Lands. The years have taken their toll on him dentally, but he sounds great and puts on a hell of a show. He is without a doubt, the oldest performer I've ever seen hump the stage.

Darondo was probably my best surprise of the lineup. I've given this advice elsewhere - the Music City Sessions on Spotify aren't all that great, you need to listen to Let My People go. I'm frankly a little worried he won't be great live but I'll be there with bells on regardless.
Also, I have a robotic cooler named "Darondo-bot" in his honor. I'd say it's a long story but there really is no story.
Another great Score by SP/ACE! Is it me or is there a lot of great funk this year? I am more excited about the FUNK than the headliners!
Also, if you are reading this thread, Orgone is bad ass! EDIT: I left out one of the few Funk bands with Funk in their name, and that is Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk! (note to self: need to make a few new threads)
Darondo Charles Bradley Soul Rebels Orgone Fitz & The Tantrums
I was very dissapointed in the lack of funk/soul music this year, as Soul Rebels were only band I knew. But I've been digging on Charles Bradley all week, and now am looking into Darondo. If they can add Galactic, Trombone Shorty, New Mastersounds, Garage A Trois, Black Joe Lewis, or Kermit Ruffins I will be more than satisfied in the funk department.
Did these guys just get added? I never noticed them on the lineup before
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
