I searched back 6 pages and found no thread on them, which surprised me. I tried to search, but words under 4 letters don't work, so I figured I'd just make a thread.
I'm surprised one doesn't exist. I'd heard a lot about them on here, so I got Slave Ambient, and it blew me away. I've only listened to it a handful of times, and I'm hooked!! Their songs, to me, range from sounding like Arcade Fire to Bob Dylan, and they guy's voice even sounds like Leonard Cohen's at times.
This is the first song that jumped out at me. The first time I heard it all I could think of is how it reminded me of Keep the Car Running by Arcade Fire.
I have a good feeling about them being at Bonnaroo this year!

Your description of how you got into them sounds awfully similar to mine. Slave Ambient was posted in the Now Playing thread constantly so I had to check it out and loved it right away. It's hard to think of many other potential Thursday acts who I'd rather see more at this point.

Some folks may not know of the extensive line-up changes this band has endured. Kurt Vile used to be in it. Wagonwheel Blues is a killer album. I'd love to see both The War on Drvgs & Kurt Vile on the Pharm, maybe even jamming together.

I saw that on Wikipedia earlier. I need to get some of their older stuff with him in it. I would love for a sit-in like that to happen at Roo. Any idea if they're still on good terms?
I somehow thought this thread was created to biznatch about Nancy Reagan. Silly me.
Carry on.
This is a dual-purpose thread. It's also for bitching about Nancy Reagan. Incidentally, I think Nancy Reagan would make a cool name for a band. Or even better, for a DJ.

I am really starting to like this band after seeing Slave Ambient in the Now Playing thread several times. They would certainly fill a Thursday slot quite nicely.

Holy Hell.
Just got through my first listen of "Slave Ambient". I have a feeling my ears are going to be hearing a lot of this album over the next few weeks. Fantastic stuff, very excited by the news of them probably playing Bonnaroo today
Odd crowd. Some young kids. Met an old dude who drove 2 hours from the deep woods of Alabama. 7/8 of the crowd left after war on drugs. White Rabbits seemed none to pleased.

i saw them open for sharon van etten last week here in bloomington. i thought the crowd was much larger for war on drugs. go figure.
After seeing these guys perform live this weekend, I can honestly say they're the perfect band for Roo. I'm hoping for a late Thursday set.
they are totally different live. much better i think. i'm really hoping for a thursday night show. i hope they don't get buried in afternoon set ugghhh.
