I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited he's playing. I've only seen him once a year or so ago but he floored me with how good he was. Cranky smoky country tunes Buck would have been proud of in some honky tonk goes rock n roll sorta way.
I'm actually shocked at how low he is on the line up. It seems everywhere I turn his name or face is there. Although I wonder if this is a solo show or a Dead Horses show.
yeah, i'm really hoping the Dead Horses are there as well. i've only seen him solo since he never comes to the midwest (although i did see him at some german banquet hall in cincinnati and drank whiskey with him in the parking lot). a friend of mine saw him recently and he had the dead horses with him, but that could obviously change by June.
I noticed you didn't post any songs from junky star. how do you feel about that album? i can't get into it. the first two are perfect, so maybe i'm just mad that it's different.

Ha! That makes two of us. I'm glad its out there but it's not my favorite. In fact I havn't listened to it at all since I bought it. I tell everyone to start with Mescalito and then go to Roadhouse Sun. I don't think I ever mention Junky Star.

I am very excited to see Ryan Bingham. I saw him and the Dead Horses in Cincinnati last year and they were phenomenal. I think Mescalito is one of my favorite albums in years, but I have gotten into Junky Star lately. It took several listens, but it is pretty mellow and good mood music. It will sound great on the farm.
Really glad this guy got more exposure after winning the Oscar. I actually quite liked Junky Star, too, with my favorite track being "Hallelujah." It really gets under my skin.
OP: those 3 songs you posted are some of my favorites by him.
I believe T Bone Burnett's influence on Junky Star really changed Bingham's approach to the album. I will be catching all of Bingham's set on the farm. Bread and Water is amazing.

I'll be there too! I heard of him because he won the Oscar, but that was the only song of his that I knew until I heard he was playing Bonnaroo. I decided to download Mescalito and Junky Star and I really like both of them. It took me a bit to get into them, but I think they're great now. I'll definitely be seeing him.
