I know he's way down on the list and most of you probably haven't heard of Hayes but my wife and I have been following him since probably 10 years ago. He's a sort of country/folk/Texas rock mix, lots of songs about drinking and partying and running afoul of the law, all well written and sometimes really funny. I've seen him live probably 6 or 7 times and it's always a good show (even when it was his birthday and some girls kept sending him shots on stage and he got totally wasted).
Plus, he's a super nice guy, he's signed all our CD's plus taken pictures with us
I know that's exactly what I thought when I saw his name on the list. I can't say that there's ever been any performer that I've felt like I've personally had any kind of "relationship" with other than Hayes, my wife and I have introduced him to so many people, my dad is a big fan of his now and he's spreading the word in Louisiana. Also, I feel like he is a good guy and deserves success, if you go to a venue and see him before the show he'll have a beer with you and talk about whatever you want, sign your CD's, take pictures, just like you want all your performers to be.
Hayes is a fantastic performer. I hung out with him for a bit at a gig here in Montreal. It was during a huge snow storm and he was blown away because he had never seen snow like that before.

I saw Hayes last night on the opening night of his tour of Texas at the little Double Wide Bar in Dallas. The stage was barely big enough for them to set up, but the new band sounded great. It's fun just to watch the drummers facial expressions, he reminds me of Jack Black. This was the first time for Hayes and Cary Ann Hearst to perform Another Like You together live. She couldn't really remember the words but you could tell she had a great time with it. This was by far my favorite of his live sets I've seen. He took lots of request from the crowd, had some nice jokes and shared drinks with the front row.
Every year I want to go to the farm but I always end up at coachella since its so much closer...but not this year thanks to hayes carll...never had a chance to see him living here in vegas and he is what sold me on buying my ticket the other day...can't wait!! And I missed ryan bingham last year so its a double win!
Saw him open up for the Old 97s and bought his album after that. I really like him. His songs are cute and funny and super catchy. I see him at The Other Tent, which has housed some of my favorite roo performers.
