I missed their set in '09 but I had seen them recently before that and heard they were playing basically the exact same show as I saw but shorter at festivals (and it was a great show!). Fuck the hataz, I'll be there barring conflicts.

They did play the same show everywhere but that's because The Hazards of Love was a concept album so they played it straight through at each show and then threw in a couple extras at the end.
This time around they have a new album, The King is Dead, which is not a concept album so it gives them more leeway to play mixed sets. Although they are perfectionists so I don't think they will ever stray very far from the songs they've practiced to near-perfection.

Have to disagree a bit here... I saw them 5 times during the HOL tour, during which they always played a 10-12 song second set of mixed tunes from their discography. I heard atleast 25 different songs most notably the close of "A Cautionary Tale" (ahhh). Also saw that Colin played Tarkio's "Save Yourself" at the Rivera (wish I would've caught that!) as well as the special "lottery show" in NYC where they literally picked songs out of a hat and played them (huge miss for me! haha)

The thing is, I heard their encore wasn't that long at roo, that was the whole point of me missing them. When I saw them they did play basically a whole second set after they played the Hazards of Love but I saw the time restrictions at Bonnaroo and knew they would only make it through HOL + a few other songs (one of which included Crazy on You, which, seriously, how many times can you see a band cover that song?) and I wanted to see TMV since I've never seen them. I wasn't trying to fault them for playing a similar set at roo as when I saw them, playing that album straight through is a trying task and they kicked ass at it.
they have been a highlight for Me the last two times they have been there, would love to see them back. Also I think they can be a little more diverse since they wont be dedicating the first hour of the show to the opus that is "Hazards of Love"

They have like six albums and they're honestly all good. Their newest album The King is Dead just came out, might be good to start with if you've never heard them before.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
I'm a big fan. I'd say start with The Crane Wife. Their new album is effing awesome, but it's really country. But it's awesome country, like Ryan Adams & The Cardinals' Jacksonville City Nights.
Picturesque or The Crane Wife are where I tell my friends to start.
Yes, these are their two best if you ask me. Castaways and Cutouts and Her Majesty are pretty good as well, those are their first two. I've never been a real big fan of Hazards of Love, but still have yet to get their latest.
Just picked up The King Is Dead. Excellent album with country accents throughout. I was looking forward to seeing them for the first time and now I'm really hoping for no conflicts.
Which stage will they be on? Surely they won't be back in a tent this time around. Last time I missed them due to Wilco and Elvis Costello. Love this new album, but Crane Wife is probably my favorite. Don't care for anything pre-Crane Wife. Hazards of Love is probably #3.

All our best to Jenny Conlee, as she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Looks like she is out for at least a couple of months. I will miss seeing her on stage in June, but so glad to hear how optimistic her situation looks at this point.

About a month ago, we all at Decemberists HQ got hit with some pretty hard news. Jenny Conlee, our since-the-very-beginning accordion and keyboard player and all-around rad person was diagnosed with breast cancer. If you or anyone in your world has been handed a similar diagnosis, you know what a bolt-out-of-the-blue this news can be.
The good news is that Jenny caught it early. And while the prognosis is very, very good for a full recovery, tackling the disease will mean some intensive treatment for our Jenny as well as a lot of important recovery time.
So I’m writing this to say that, weighing our options, and with Jenny’s fervent blessings, we’ve decided to go forward with our scheduled tour dates this spring and summer.
What we know now: Jenny will very likely miss all nine of our concerts in May and June. We're all hoping that her recovery will be such that she'll be able to get back on board as soon as possible.

Hello to Everyone,
I am very sorry to say that I will be missing a few shows coming up as I go through treatment for breast cancer. It has been great to be on tour these past few weeks. The band and crew are like family to me and have been incredibly supportive and understanding. To be making music with everyone and seeing the fans has helped me to feel more positive and keep my mind off of my diagnosis. But, alas, as the tour winds down, it is time for me to get back to reality. I will try to get into surgery as soon as I can after we return from this leg of the tour so I can begin my recovery. There are still a few unknowns out there concerning my cancer, but I am thinking positive and hope to be back on the road soon. Thanks for all of your support! See you soon!

I feel horrible for Jenny and can't even imagine what the dynamic will be without her!
But still, I will be screaming like the fan girl I am for The Decemberists.
