I'll be honest, I'd almost forgotten about this band until I saw them on the Waka lineup, but Here Come The Mummies would be a great addition.
If you don't know who they are, they're a fantastic-sounding funk band out of Nashville who take the stage in full mummy costumes to hide the identities of the band members (Because they're under contract to various labels), who allegedly have a few grammies between them
Their official bio:
Over 5000 years ago, from the dry stretches of the not-so-fertile crescent, wandered a well-endowed, if foul smelling tribe, Expleticus Deleticus. They played upon musical instruments that, although crude, were nevertheless vessels of seeming infinite funkiness. Unearthed hieroglyphs (some thought to be the first instances of sexual innuendo in song "lyrics") tell a salacious story: a tribe possessing the power to groove most righteously, made drop the tunics of five luscious teenage daughters of the Pharaoh, who subsequently cursed them with a spell so vile, merely to repeat its name is to reduce your tongue to cinders inside your very head. Here the story breaks off...
For years, scholars of the ancient world wondered what became of this lost nomadic tribe. Theories abounded about the group's involvement in historical events from The Siege of Troy, to The Sacking of Rome, to the Fall of Pompeii, to the Sinking of Atlantis; these have since been dismissed, however, as parlor quackery.
Then, In 1922, at a dig in the desert south of Tunis, after hearing the unlikely thumping of music, albeit muffled, emanating from the sands underfoot, Professor Nigel Quentin Fontenelle Dumblucke IV unearthed the ruins of an ancient discotheque to find a dozen undead Egyptian mummies astonishingly still in the act of performing what he terms "Terrifying funk from beyond the grave". From these, who called themselves (somewhat ungrammatically) HERE COME THE MUMMIES, Professor Dumblucke learned of the powerful curse that doomed them to wander the earth, seeking the ultimate riff, the one that may allow their souls to rest after aeons of "banging out solid fly grooves".
Now, more undead than Dick Clark (but without the Lego snap-on hair), and cursed with a funk so strong, you'll never want to wash again, here comes... HERE COME THE MUMMIES.
And some videos:
Bonnaroo could definitely benefit from booking an act like this - Galactic is great, but NOLA funk isn't the only kind of funk out there. And since they'll be at wakarusa, it's pretty much a no-brainer.
This would be fun. The story behind the band sounds a lot like Los Straitjackets began. They played in Lucha masks because they were all pretty successful sessions guys and didn't want it to mess with their "day job".
The live shows I have seen around town range from decent to not very good. It is an interesting concept however, and with the rotating cast I might give them another shot.
I say they would be amazing, plus they are at Wakarusa they week before. It wouldn't surprise me at all for this fun, fairly talented group to be a mid-day tent set or Thursday band this year.

I went to see these guys at Waka last year. I expected a fun show, but ended up walking away about midway through. Beatle Bob didn't even seem to be enjoying himself too much.
1. YES! They need to be on the Farm, even if their costumes would not smell so spring-fresh once the show was over!
2. THEY ARE SOOOO AMAZING in concert. Very fun, very energetic. Every time I've seen 'em, I've had sore muscles the next day from dancing so much! It's impossible not to have fun at their shows.
3. This video: watch it all the way thru & if you don't boogie in your chair even a lil' bit, then call a proctologist, 'cause you've got somethin' stuck up there that needs to be removed.

To each their own. It was all very corny to me. I do enjoy musical comedy like Tenacious D or Weird Al sometime, but I got tired of every song having an undead theme.
