So what? The fact that Bonnaroo sent the poll to COS with names already on it mean that something is up. Why would they add names if one of those bands weren't in talks to play?
According to the guy the widget changed to what it is now. However the first one they had up had no links to anything Bonnaroo now this one does. True or not my suspicion still is the first one got caught by Bonnaroo quickly and they had to use the one they are now.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I am just saying we have been kicking around the same names that were originally there on the qausi confimations post. If ol wolfman is right too that means we are really good guessers and somebody on there will be there this summer
The Pixies weren't rumored or confirmed, Pavement was.
The Who hasn't been quasi confirmed, just rumored.
Rolling Stone rumor hasn't gotten any more likely since last June.
Jay Z and U2 are extremely unlikely at this point.
maybe they got too many headliners confirmed and have to drop one. with the pixies just throw in to see where to place them on the schedule. it's really odd tho.

My reasoning is that seriously doubt Bonnaroo would let people vote on headliners who are most likely going to be unable to make it. Also notice all the choices are what they used in this article that they admit came from inforoo. I guess liars seems strong, but yeah that is what I am calling them at this point.
Fair enough, i just don't get it from their perspective. It's not like they said something that would get a ton of attention, like one of these bands is playing.
....but at the same time when bonnaroo doesn't add it to their site, they either didn't issue it or are distancing itself from it.

The only thing I could think of to make it seem plausible that this is Bonnaroo's doing is that maybe they are in preliminary talks with all of those bands, and they want to see if it's really worth the money to get U2 or Jay Z over the Rolling Stones or the Who. But that really doesn't make that much sense because maybe like 1% of the festivals attendees probably voted in that poll.
Not to mention what if they had say booked The Who, or were in talks with them, and then the Stones won the poll? I really doubt bonnaroo would put themselves out there like that.
I think it was just to get people talking. One or two might play Bonnaroo. I emailed Alex Young asking where the poll came from. He said they got it directly from Bonnaroo. This was before they changed the poll. Why would they lie to us?

Since it was on COS, I'm guessing only a hundred or so people would vote anyway, a drop in the bucket for Bonnaroo. This whole thing kind of doesn't make sense to be honest.

I think you guys are reading too much into it. This isn't like adding bands on Myspace too soon or having the lineup page live before it should have been. Those were combinations of technical goofs and Inforoosters being good sleuths. But there's no technical mistake or sleuthing involved here, so I highly doubt they would have put up a poll with any real information involved.
My guess would be they put up the poll basically just as a just-for-fun thing. Maybe they're interested in what kind of acts people want, but I don't think it's really about those acts specifically. It's not like they're debating between all those and wondering what people want to see. Maybe they're wondering what KIND of acts people are interested in, but I sort of doubt the poll is even that significant. They know what we like, and we know they're watching us here so if there was any confusion over what bands we wanted they would have no trouble figuring it out without a poll. I think they just took the poll down because they realized this WOULD happen - it would start all kinds of rumors.
Besides, shouldn't the headliners be sewn up by now? I'm no expert on festival booking, but I would have thought that stuff was already taken care of and they'd be working on the mid-level and smaller acts now.

It's possible that the headliners are already booked, and CoS posted that poll just to see what the fans wanted/hoped for. Then Bonnaroo saw the list and realized one (or more) of those acts actually were playing the festival and they didn't want it to be spoiled so they asked CoS to change it.
I'm not sure if I believe that......but it's certainly a possibility.

My theory: Bonnaroo created it. They're not even really looking at the requests. They're just using it as a tool to build up hype, and to promote their presale contest (did you notice how after you request you band it said "To learn more about Bonnaroo and how YOU can book your favorite band to play at Bonnaroo 2010 visit www.Bonnaroo.com "?)
