^^^btw the 50th anniversary edition is much better. Unedited from the orginal scroll he wrote it on. More drugs, more sex, and he uses the real names (kerouac, cassady, ginsberg etc.)
And it appears we have further to go...guess we need to start searching more north..
Wiki on Haight-Ashbury:
The district is famous for its role as a center of the 1960s hippie movement, a post-runner and closely associated offshoot of the Beat generation or beat movement, members of which swarmed San Francisco's "in" NORTH Beach neighborhood two to eight years before the "Summer of Love" in 1967.

i think the OLDTIME "bluegrass" influences might have some importance.. i mean old time music is rooted to scotland for sure.. the fiddle is at least (banjo is african) but about desmond looking north for the sound.. im thinkin
If we're looking at other Grateful Dead influences, how about Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen. I know Jorma had a huge influence on Bob Weir.
This would be my next answer after the Dead. Don't think the connection is as strong, but woul LOVE to see White Rabbit (Feed Your Head) in a festival setting...
Did anyone notice the tags on the audio file that Mr Zimmy posted. They are machine, mr., peabody, set, waayback. Does anyone remember this from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show? Mr. Peabody (the dog) and Sherman (the kid assistant) would travel back in history. But they could only go backwards.

I have seen a lot of talk about Jack Kerouac as well as poetry...not quite sure how we got there, but is there any way to connect Leonard Cohen to this? I read somewhere on here someone "claiming to know something" about him being on the lineup this year.
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
That's a really fun film to watch. It was a traveling festival in 1970 on a train. They made stops in cities in Canada and put on festivals. It was The Grateful Dead, the Band, Janis, Buddy Guy, The Flying Burrito Brothers, lots more. They just partied and played music on this train. The guys that put on the festival lost a ton of money because all the kids in Canada thought the festivals should be free and caused huge scenes. If you haven't seen it you should watch it.

We led the main clue to a Van Morrison song that references Kerouac....We got a tweet saying this was headed in the right direction

Ok, I think those tags were just supposed to make us think back in history. "Mr. Peabody, set the wayback machine." was apparently pretty popular to quote when The R & B Show was first on.

That would be sweet! They played like a year ago in Austin but I had to work and couldn't go. They are apparently working on a new album too.
