I just clicked on bonnaroo radio while I'm reading this and Gogol Bordello is playing which made me think of the golgi apparatus in cells. Think this might be the connection?
Actually it doesn't appear that amoebas don't have a GA (though most other eukaryotes do) so guess this isn't the solution we are seeking.
Just a little Wikipedia thought but The Who's Quadrophenia and Genesis' The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are both concept albums dealing with split personalities (split=mitosis... heh.)
Peter Gabriel; Gabriel was an angel, what was that about l.a? City of lost angels? And he split from Genesis....

I was taking his comments about making a concept album and felt there must surely be one about cell division. (Prog is so weird and geeky...how can people not dig it?) Haven't come up with anything about that exactly but did discover there is a song "The Amoeba Song". It's on a pretty obscure release called "Neil's Heavy Concept Album" and Neil refers to a character from the british show "The Young Ones". We know djjd to be a confirmed Monty Python lover so "The Young Ones" would be right up his alley as well I feel. As for the band suggested by this album there is a track called wayne which could mean Lil' Wayne possibly? If anyone else wants to take a look at the allmusic page here's the link:
^^ I mentioned this above and on the last page...but I was thinking more this direction
After "The Amoeba Song" It also features a track called "Go Away" where Neil tries to explain the album has finished and after that another track "Brown Sugar" where Neil discovers some buskers performing the track by The Rolling Stones and joins in with them.
Although the Stones would not excite me that much, I thought it might be worth mentioning. The article also makes reference to Traffic and King Crimson

I think this would be the a great fit for this clue, but am I alone in thinking that DJJD ruled out Neil Young with his comment about IF Neil was gonna be there he would piss himself. (I can't seem to find which thread it was in at the moment)
^That's in the "question for farmhand" thread. You're probably right; I was half-joking. I've done a thousand different amoeba-related google searches today... ARGH!
Like I said I definitely think that fits the clue the best, and LOVE FOR IT TO BE RIGHT!!!! I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't to much into the IF comment. Good looking out on which thread it was in BTW.

This might be a stretch, but what about Outkast? There's a definite dichotomy to the group (there's even been rumors of a split), and they've released a concept album...
They also have a song - "Prototype"
Amoeba - Protozoa - Prototype (I know it seems like a stretch)
Also, none of the stores would stock something that they threw out - an outkast if you will....

That doesn't seem like a stretch to me at all! GREAT thinkin'!!
I'm completely buying into this because I love them and would stab a hobo if it meant I could see them live.
...but I'm def not getting my hopes up after the Great Cake Debacle of Thread Number Three...

Outkast has been my number one wish for Bonnaroo since I began even thinking about going to Bonnaroo. I can definitely see the connection here, but I'm biased.

I saw them at MSG in the theater back in 01 I wanna say? Ludacris opened up and Outkast tore it up. Had some bugus MTV lanyards my cousin gave to me (I was only like 16) and during the set my buddy and I left our friends in the upper level and proceeded to walk right to the front row and got blasted with some atliens funkiness. I would kill all hobos and end homelessness to see them again!

it was mentioned that amoeba don't have cell WALLS...and djjd mentioned concept records which The Wall certainly is one. is this the clue that unlocks Roger Waters playing The Wall? kinda looks that way to me right now
For some reason Amoeba makes me think of Embryonic, a Flaming Lips album and they just put out a cover of Dark Side of the Moon which kind of like a concept album. I hope it is the Flaming Lips.
There's a Mexican band called Montezuma's Revenge, if Neil Young isn't the answer, maybe 'Zuma's Revenge is. (In the Latin Tent?) Is there no public restroom in the L.A. Amoeba location?
