The Mimosa that you are listing is not the one that is playing Bonnaroo. You are thinking of MiM0SA -- the description on the roo website suggests it is this Vancouver jazzy combo (much more exciting imo):
2012 shows: 3/23 - The Men 4/9 - Of Monsters & Men 4/21 - Bassnectar 5/2 - Shpongle 5/22 - Jack White 6/1 - tUnE-yArDs 6/7-6/10 - Bonnaroo 2012 6/18 - Destroyer 6/20 - The Tallest Man On Earth 6/23-6/24 - Governor's Ball
the description is the other mimosa, but if you click on the picture, it brings you to a MiM0sa video. HMM.
The other links are to MiM0SA too. This is very odd.
I thought the same thing. when I initially searched Myspace for Mimosa it said that the page had been deleted. That may be the source of the confusion. If anyone is certain of which Mimosa is playing please let me know and I will update.
It might be a good idea to also break them down into groups, so a fan of one genre can easily see all the acts that may be similar.
Electronic:
Skrillex SBTRKT
That's not really fair. That's akin to putting down
Rock: - Nickelback - The White Stripes
My example was crappy and yes, there would be some generalizations happening. I just think it's a little easier than looking through each name to see if they fit what you like.
What exactly is bounce music? Is that something that goes along with the bouncy mud?
From Wikipedia (so it must be true!):
Bounce music is an energetic style of New Orleans hip hop music which is said to have originated as early as the late 1980s, but is typically believed to have begun with the 1991 single "Where Dey At" by MC T.Tucker and DJ Irv. A highly influential cover of "Where Dey At" was also released by DJ Jimi in 1992.
Not sure if anyone actually read the bio of Steve Bernstein's MTO but it appears they'll be covering Sly & the Family Stone. Looks like the band features Bernie Worrell and Martha Wainwright among others.
how do you not have 'funk' written next to Ivan Neville's DumpstaPHUNK
Noted. I'm not familiar with many of these bands so I'm waiting to make changes to the (less than accurate) Wiki categories until they are recommended to me.

Seen them twice, fantastic band - I like that they didn't fall back on the usual candidates this year when it comes to jam and funk. Even Robert Randolph is in a collaborative set up

I support this, the list last year did this very thing and it was much easier to find what you were looking for. Include a few generic genres to divide them, then next to their name put "(jam band)" for the jam bands.

I'll take a crack at it. I'm sure I'm gonna catch hell for something.

Looks good. Move tUnE-yArDs to Indie (They're not electronic). Battles I would move to Indie as well. Not Post-Rock. MAYBE "Electronic/Dance" after this new album but I think Indie is probably better. I think Black Lips could/should go under Punk too.
Other than that looks good. Someone should sticky this thread
