So, how does everyone feel about Whole Foods at Bonnaroo? There isn't one where I live, but I have always heard that they are this evil corporate machine hell bent on selling overpriced groceries based on the cool-factor of organic/natural and preying on trendy hipsters.
It looks like it will be more of a market than a food vendor, which is what we had previously discussed. I'm stoked! I'm all about more choices when it comes to food at Roo.
I am so down with this! I complained last year about my inability to find healthy food vendors last year so this is right up my alley.
We don't have a Whole foods here either. It'll be nice to have a market at Roo though. I am curious as to whether they are going to jack up the prices or if the prices will reflect the same ones used in the Whole Foods stores.

Considering the typical cost of groceries at WholeFoods, I think any significant price increases would be classified as price gouging under Tennessee law.

lol, that's actually pretty funny. but true. i hope they think ahead well enough to keep product on the shelf!!! most whole food places around my area have an issue with doing that in general.

They had this at Lollapalooza last year. It was hard to hate them when they gave out free samples every hour...
cheese sticks, fruit stick thingys, water, crackers, chocolate, trail mix... not huge stuff, but it was nice to grab a couple things to keep going throughout the day... and hold off spending money for food (no camping at lolla...you eat there.)
They sold stuff too, but the Roo people made it seem like they were gonna do something similar...
I am so excited about this!!! Every time I fly to roo I really miss the ability to have fresh fruit which I think is so nice to have in the hot weather (I usually suffice with expensive smoothie vendors) so I think this will be great!
I do shop there regularly (there is one near my house, and one near my work) and although there is that "whole paycheck" reputation, it all depends on what you buy... if you go for the specialty products (expensive packaged brands, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, etc) it can be ridiculously expensive. If you go for the basics - like their amazing selection of bulk items (granola, quinoa, nuts, flours, etc) and huge selection of organic and conventional produce, I find I don't spend any more than I would at a regular grocery store, but I get better products, and even save money on the bulk items.
I hope they're prepared for the 80,000 potential customers...

whole foods is SO annoyingly overpriced. i hope they aren't at 'roo. i gave up on ever shopping at whole foods when i found the cheapest pack of cheese was $7 for 10 slices.
I think it will be really cool to have a market on the farm, but I don't have an opinion about Whole Foods. My brother bought most of his food there when he lived in New Orleans. I'm not sure how, since he was dirt poor, but he did.
Considering that I'm used to Aldi prices, I'd probably fall over if presented with Whole Foods prices. Aldi rocks my world.

We have a giant one here in Atlanta, and it's an experience to say the least. But it is insanely overpriced and even somewhat snobbish, dare I say. However, I am all for options, especially healthy ones. Free samples? I'm game for those too!
I think it kinda goes against the intended theme of Bonnaroo to be honest. I would rather see a local Farmer's Market selling produce and such, instead of a mega-corporate chain facading as an earth-friendly retailer.
Whole Foods has some of the best options for vegetarians and more organic fresh produce that anywhere else I've seen. The vegan General Tso's is awesome.
It actually costs more to abstain from meat. And twice as much if you try to stick to organic.
I'm saving myself for the arepas, veggie corn dogs and falafel. mmmmm. Been waiting a damn year for that shit.....
Since where i live has epic Whole Foods, Fresh Market , and Trader Joe's. This will bring a nice homey feeling to roo. However I don't wanna pay the over priced fee's they charge.
i agree that local farmer's market would be nicer and more in the spirit of roo. i am trying to bring everything we will need both to save money and to feel self sufficient, but it will be a great place to go mooch free samples. heh.
and yes i planned on one trip to a vendor per day because i hear there is some irresistible vendor food there!
yeah, after all i heard about evil whole foods i expected stuff to be crazy pricey. not having a whole foods here i can't compare to regular whole foods prices but this list seems reasonably comparable to my local publix. maybe a dollar more here and there but they're schlepping out to a farm!
i am still bringing my own stuff but its nice to know that they are there if i want something non-vendorey in centeroo.
i wonder if those prices (or their release) were in response to the negative online response whole foods' presence at bonnaroo has gotten (as per bonnaroo/whole foods facebook pages)? from what i saw most negative response was in reference to prices and a prevalent "wait til we get there a banana will be $12" attitude.
glad this potential crappy turn of events has come around positively. a good roo omen.

I have always found Whole Foods to be pretty reasonable in terms of price. Their produce is much cheaper than the local farmers market or other local vendors and is better than or equal to the quality. And the mark-up on produce is not much more than Kroger.
I think the price list is great. Much cheaper than anything you will buy in the general store, I'm sure. I am very glad that they will provide a healthier (and cheaper) alternative to food this year.
Those prices don't seem nearly as bad as the General Store. Now the real question is if this stuff is going to be in stock or will there be empty shelves by Saturday?
