sorry to rain on your parade a bit ... be a little cautious though because here and most states, they ALSO give you a registration for the placard ... on the placard is the user of the placards name, and the placard number, like a registration but not assigned to a certain vehicle ... if they really check close, the owner of the placard needs to have that registration AND it has to be the same person that is using it ... that is how they stop some of what you are going to do .... just an FYI, i got that checked once here at a concert but never used mine at the roo, so not sure ... cr****

what is a placard anyway? My dad has had a hangtag since 1985 and it only has a date on it for renewal. I don't remember seeing his name on it.

I've been thinking about him using the hangtag if he does go, but is it wrong for him to use it? I have always had a problem when people park in handicapped spaces and are not handicapped...big problem.
Now I'm beginning to wonder if it's wrong if he uses it if he does come. ???
I mean, he is handicapped to a degree with his foot and medication and all....and my dad is legitamately (sp?) handicapped, so it's not like we're stealing the tag...
I would only be concerned if handicapped space is severely limited and you may be denying it to someone who needs it worse. I don't believe this is the case (I think Handicapped can be expanded to adjacent areas if it gets full) but does anyone know for sure? ???

On the handicapped hangtag....My mother is leaglly registered handicapped driver here in TN and she has the one you hang from your rearview mirror. It does in fact have a unique registration number on the hangtag that matches the number on her registration.
She carries the registration in her purse. It has her name, addy and pertinient information.
We drove up to and parked in the handicapped section in 04 and when we got up there, she had to pull out the registration and the parking dude checked it to the hangtag.
I cant say they will always do that, but that was my one and only experience with handicapped parking, and they checked it then.
Had my mother (the registered user of the hangtag) had not been present, we would not have been allowed in that area.

thats what i was trying to explain ... you never know if they might do that or not ... never happened at the roo with me, but it has at other venues ... i just dont want someone to make a lot of plans thinking the hc parking is a given ... cr****

oleander you really should think of letting him tag along though .. i know what you said about the pros and cons, but it is the roo afterall .... easy for me to say eh ... btw, do you know that the opening group to kickoff woodstock 99 was ... ta ta ... oleander lol .. cr****
i wonder if the tag is the same for NC. That is the tag he will have with him.
The tag for NC has a number on it but when I got it I don't remember any kind of papers that had a name or anything on it. I can post a pic if you want...
Ole: contrary to everyone, I think you should only bring him if he knows the ground rule and will follow them (and you will enforce them.) I definitely have siblings that would spoil my time at roo and would not invite. No offense, I love 'em but...
There is nothing wrong with a little selfishness at roo. I know that's sounds bad, especially from the "Helping Hands" guy but no one has the right to spoil my roo. Boundaries are important and some people do not respect them.
Maybe I'm wrong and your bro isn't like this but if he is there's nothing wrong with not wanting him around.

did they check the name to the name on the drivers license as well?

yeah, I'm concerned with his personality. he can be a little overbearing for me at times, and has a tendency to not let me talk. He also can be a bit of a downer, and sometimes he makes fun of me (my boyfriend noticed that). He does have some personal issues going on right now with friends and whatnot, but I don't want to have to worry about his problems on my vacation. Man, that makes me sound like such a b*tch, but I'm spending a lot of money on this and don't want it ruined.

Troo is right - stand up for yourself - I am still hoping that tickets will either sell out or he will not be able to come up with the money - you should be able to go to 'roo and have a mind blowing experience instead of worry ing about your brother.

Yeah....
I guess it's just "wait and see" at this point. I keep talking to my mom about this and she's in agreement with me...
I really don't think he'll have the money. I think he feels obligated to go, because he was the one that told us about Bonnaroo in the first place. We already had reservations for the beach that week, but when we saw who was playing, we had to change those plans immediately! I told him he is in no way obligated....I was very adamant about that.
Maybe it will take a few days for all the info I gave him about what it will be like and how much it will cost to sink into his brain.
one nice thing about roo is you can pull the old 'i went to the bathroom and couldnt find you for two days' routine. it works at roo. ive done it. and it worked out great. i had an awesome time. but instead of being up my ass the person i left met people instead of just annoying me constantly and ended up having a much better time without me around too. and then when we did meet back up it was alot better to be around eachother.
Ole, its VERY easy to get a temporary handicap thing from a doctor.. lets say you break your leg or something. Tell your brother to go to his doctor, tell him/her he wants to go to a festival with lots of walking involved, and see if he can get one that only lasts a few weeks. I know a good friend of mine broke his leg and got one that only lasted 3 weeks but matched up to his registration
