If Kanye were playing Saturday, when would he play? I mean, he couldn't be latenight, there's no way he would be in a tent. Unless of course they used What stage, which I don't think would ever happen. If he played during the day, it would have to be on What stage; so what, he preheadlines Pearl Jam? Its possible, but that would mean ABB got bumped down from their preheadliner status of several years back. And for what, a non-glowing Kanye?
I just can't see him playing during the day if he's on this "Glow in the Dark" tour. There's no way AC/Superfly would pass up a chance for something that plays to their audience PERFECTLY. It seems to me this would, in fact, be the only circumstances under which they would get him. Unless, of course, they block out the sun (Mr Burns style), that would be epic.

Methinks people need to start accepting the possibility of Kanye playing in a Tent.
I know he's huge and is more popular than 99% of the rest of the lineup combined probably, but anything is possible at this point I'd say. I really wouldn't be surprised to see him in Galactic's time/location from 07

I don't understand how you put the guy who's fourth on your billing in a tent. Nor do I think any of the tents have the capacity.
Saturday's lacked a Which Stage closer. This appears to the be the Which Stage closer. Unless Superfly pulls something like making Phil Lesh the late night on Thursday night, I don't see where else Kanye falls. He'll probably make a late night appearance in the hip/hop tent as well, but I don't see how he doesn't get his own set during the daytime on one of the big stages.

I do agree with you, really. I don't fully understand it either. Perhaps the billing placement is purely a result of his popularity, and if he's up against a Bonnaroo favorite (Bisco, Umphreys, etc.) then I could see there being a relatively large dispersing of the crowd and altho a tent would still undoubtedly be crowded, it may be feasible.

Yea, he could close Which stage. But without glowing, I doubt I would go.
so Kanye in a tent.. or maybe the first late-night what stage show? hell they have a comic on the what stage, maybe they are trying a bunch of new things this year?

Kanye, while a huge draw, will be late night in a tent.
Saturday latenight will then look like this:
Phil on Which Sigur Ros in a tent Kanye/Lupe/Talib? in a tent Electronic stuff-->Tiesto in the remaining tent
While he is huge, i'd say ^^^^^ would spread the crowd out very nicely.
You have to understand, that while a huge name, alot of the people going to Bonnaroo do not like Kanye or simply enjoy some of the above mentioned more. Out of 80,000 Bonnaroovians I would venture 20,000-30,000 skip late night to sleep/relax, which leaves 50,000 people to spread out amongst the 4 stages.
I think some of the things already announced along with this info signal a fundamental change in the way Bonnaroo schedules.
If you accept that Kanye has to play at night on a stage you have a problem. The two traditional nighttime spots are taken by Pearl Jam and Phil and Friends.
This could mean Kanye plays the Which Stage the same time PJ is on What or late night on What Stage. Or one of the tents will be a stage this year in order to accommodate larger crowds.

Given that last bit of speculation, wouldn't you think it an incredible waste of money to put one of the higher paid acts on the bill in a slot where few people are going to see him.
I mean, perhaps the foolishness wasn't to think Kanye was going to headline a Thursday night but that Superfly would have a late night act that big play at all.
Kanye's going to close the Which Stage on Saturday. I'm 75% certain that will be the case.
20% goes to the possibility that Kanye opens for PJ on the What Stage.
5% goes to something I haven't even thought of.

I agree . . . except for that last part. I think it's Which Stage Sunday. Kanye plays 8-9:45 (darkness sets in right around 8). Jack Johnson 9:30-12 on What stage. This accomodates everything; Kanye can glow, Jack Johnson can feel like a headliner (recall, last year the White Stripes played Which stage 7:15-8:45 and Widespread played 8:30-11:30), and he doesn't have to try to fill a 3 hour set, a bunch of people duck our early, everyone is happy.

I'm torn in between the Heady Thursday slot that has been spoken of. And the Sunday Which Stage closer..
Thursday, I think, would be better suited for the die hard Jam fans. They are usually the ones to show up first for the fest and last to leave. Usually, they give a "jam" scene band the closing duties. A la; Widespread Panic at Roo', Phil at Echo last october, Phil at Langerado, and so on and so forth.
Maybe, just maybe, Bonnaroo/Superfly are secretly planning on the Allman Brothers to headline/latenight set for Thursday. Since Phil Lesh and Friends are already confirmed for their super sick latenight slot.
Crazy? maybe so. Sweet, Definitly (In My Opinion)

The problem with that is simple: where does that leave Robert Plant & Alison Krause?
You'd be putting 3 of your top 6 billed artists at the least attended point of the festival.
