actually they do because these people just want to be famous and are very easy to control and will listen to the record labels. the label doesnt have to worry about artistic integrity coming between them and the artist, The record company says sing these particular lyrics with this particular beat. They dont have to worry about the artist saying, hey wait I want do something different that may or may not make money, they dont have to worry about them wanting to use their own band or write their own songs. and these artists accept making music that sounds very similar to everything else out, and they accept having there face plastered all over commercials and other various advertisements

First off I don't think Kid Rock requires an explanation on why people would just jump in on this and say he sucks flat out. Theres a lot of people out there like that. Take Mike Tyson, hes probably one of the best boxers ever but hes always gonna be a rapist and coke head. So there you have KID ROCK he might be a good musician (although I've never seen him play anything well or even sing well for that matter) but he will always and forever SUCK!!! In addition, to delete the word "poser" from the kid Rock description vocab. would be like some regular white guy buying a big fur coat and pretending he was some kind of Bob Seger/Pimp/Lynard Skynard/Rapper!!! It would be totally ridiculous and unnecessary!!! Now how about a debate over someone with a little more musical importance than our buddy Kid!?

^^^^^Yep thats what I said originally! Ill attempt to end this by saying that if I recall correctly, a large amount of Kid Rocks' fan base are the same people that probably attend NASCAR races with their matching Marlboro tshirts, shorts, ballcap, and backpack on!!! So maybe we should all give it a chance out of musical respect for great talent and invite Kid Rock and all of his fans to Bonnaroo so they can preserve what Bonnaroo is all about...GREAT TALENT! (sarcasm)
Let's see - I like Kid Rock and I like NASCAR - so that makes me some bumbling ignorant redneck, huh?
Interesting.......but I am also raising a child that playes classical violin, is in AP classes as a Freshman in high school and makes A;s with a few B's here and there - and another one that dances (classical ballet) and has for 6 years as well as plays piano - oh yeah - she is in gifted classes also.
But I must be stupid and ignorant because I like Kid Rock and think he is talented.
As I said before - Opinions are like assholes and everyone's got one. Just because you don't like something - doesn't necessarily mean that it sucks - and facts or facts - talented or not - he has a good thing going and is making money doing it - are you?

Oysterhead has got a point. Kid Rock could not achieve his level of success with such limited talent. How do you make the judgement that Kid Rock has no talent? He's clearly a diverse song writer and plays multiple instruments. People bag on his talent because he created music they don't like.
or is it that he created a scene that you don't like...and you make a general statement that everyone who loves kid rock is a wife-beating jerk or a junkie stripper abandoning her kids.
and I personally don't like Kid Rock. I agree the symbolism of his name would be a coffee stain on what people expect from bonnaroo.
but you know what, the world would be a better place if we didn't have pretentious opinions digging up caverns for guilty pleasures.
Unfortunately, in our society, success does not always equal talent. The music industry is just one example of that.
I'm not aware of any "scene" that Kid Rock has created but then again, I guess I'm too old to be invloved with any scenes.
As far as his talent goes, it's all relative. Put him in a room full of average Joe's who have never picked up an instrument and sure, he'd stick out as the most "talented" in the group.
But I know what I hear and when I see amateur bar musicians (from all genres) playing and writing music that is infinitely superior to Kid Rock's, I come to the conclusion that he lacks a certain amount of talent.
Maybe my standards are just higher than some. I don't know. But if not respecting his music makes me pretentious, that's cool.
But I will definitely give him credit for his drive and determination. THAT, in my opinion, goes a lot farther than talent in many cases.

Knowing all to well that Joe C leaving would end his career and send him into the black pit of bad music memories, Kid Rock did the only sensible thing, He killed Joe C with a Giant boot and then used his death as a symphathy card and as a stepping stone for his career.

I'm not the bigest fan of Kid Rock but wouldn't be opposed to him or any other band playing Roo, that's why it is 'Roo... any band may be playing and he wouldn't be on a main stage so you could go to another act, movie, comedy, sleep, drink, etc.
Some folks need to get over thier snobby sense of music, it's more than just playing an instrument to entertain.
It's like all the people hating on Metallica, I cant stand Lars big mouth but wouldn't miss a live show of thiers for my life.
And yes, I'm there for all the other talented eclectic sounds going to be played (i.e. Levon Helm, MMJ, Raconteurs)

also - I never said NASCAR was a "beloved event" But I have had Marlboro gear in the past - why not - I pay enough for cigarettes - I should get something extra - and when you are young and broke - it is decent enough gear.

several things i for one can't believe there is a 6 page thread over debating kid rocks talant. this had me rolling another thing kid rock makes me wana hoark & last the dude is over rated!! i have been fortunate enough to never see this dude live.i wouldn't lose any sleep if i never managed. if for some reason he landed a spot at roo this would allow me time to catch up on some zzzzz, grub out or meet up w/ other peeps!! i would not allow somebody like kid rock keep me away from where i love to be!!
