I counted all of the five larger stage(What, Which, This, That, and The Other) performers from last year and came up with 100 acts. At this point in time we have roughly 75. This leads me to conclude that we have at least 25 major music additions coming. That's a lot imho.

Man, I think that was already discussed in another thread, but thanks for reminding me. It almost seems like they'll never make any additions! A good portion of those additions will likely be jazz acts, though, as well as possible techno additions.
Mostly, I'm hoping one of the 25 artists added is The Mars Volta. And Primus, since I've been a good boy this year.
Anybody have a comprehensive list of all the acts who were added last year? If not, anybody want to find the initial press release and tell us what bands from the final lineup aren't on there? ;D

I just broke out my guide with the schedule from last year and for the 5 stages you just mentioned there were only 81 acts. So there probably won't be quite as many as you assume.

it wasn't much. The Roots, Aesop Rock, El-P, Wild Magnolia Mardi Gras...,and umm the Cafe and Jazz acts. I think thats it...2006, now thats a different story... it was: Sonic Youth, Common, The Streets, Umph, Robert Randolph, Bisco, The Codetalkers feat. Col. Bruce Hampton, World Party Brothers Past David Ford Be Your Own Pet Matt Costa

The only additions I remember from last year on one of the 5 stages was The Roots and Pete Yorn. Of course there was the jazz tent additions and all of the smaller artists added that play in the True Music Lounge and Blue Room Cafe.
Groups added last year after the initial lineup: Ornette Coleman, The Roots, Superjam, Donaldson&Smith Quartet, David Murray, Mago, El-P, Ravi Coltrane, James Blood Ulmer, Philadelphia Experiment, David Bromberg, Don Byron, Pete Yorn...
That's about half of them from the first half of the lineup (I probbaly missed a few though).

actually, there was only 81 bands on those stages last year, what/which/this/that/other, thursday thru sunday including latenights, i'm looking at the bonnaroo guide right now, 11 of those 81 were latenight shows on friday and saturday, i'm not sitting here trying to prove you wrong, i'm just trying to be accurate
thursday this-3 bands that-4 bands other-4 bands
friday what-3 bands which-5 bands-1 was latenight-string cheese this-7 bands-3 were latenight-aesop rock, el-p, dj shadow that-5 bands-1 was latenight-sts9 other-5 bands-1 was latenight-superjam
saturday what-4 bands which-5 bands-1 was latenight-flaming lips this-5 bands-1 was latenight-mule that-5 bands-1 was latenight-galactic other-6 bands-2 were latenights-girl talk, sasha and digweed
sunday what-4 which-4 this-4 that-4 other-4
jazz acts-13 total jazz bands thru the weekend
comedy acts-11 total comedy acts thru the weekend
cafe bands(blue room, troo music lounge)- 31 total bands thru the weekend
bonnarouge-5 total acts thru the weekend including gypsy hands tribal belly dance
and as of right now, the 2008 lineup consists of:
what/which/this/that/other-looking at this year's lineup(excluding comedy acts) we have 68 acts, at least 60 maybe even 65 or even all could be in the these tents this year, so i'm concluding that for these stages/tents the future additions could hold at most 20 but possibly somewhere between 10 or 15 bigger names, of course all of this depends on if the setup will be different this year, they generally keep it very similar every year, thursday will most likely be the same, kanye won't be on thursday, if they made thursday a longer day that would probably mean they'd have to start letting people in early wednesday, which would actually make the festival june 11-15 and its already advertised as june 12-15, so thursday stays the same this year jazz tent-no bands as of right now
comedy-9 comedy acts so far-we'll probably see 2 more-flight of the conchords and demetri martin were big hits last year, i'd like to see both return this year
cafe bands-when i look at the current lineup, i have a hard time picturing any of those at the blue room cafe or troo music lounge, i'm sure its possible that a few could be playing either of these smaller venues, but then again, last year i didn't think rocco deluca would only play a smaller venue like this, so this brings me to conclude that we could see as many as 30-something bands in the future additions for the blue room cafe and troo music lounge
total # of bands, jazz bands, comedy acts, cafe acts i expect in the additions - anywhere from 30-60 more acts, with as little as 10 big names but could be as many as 20
and with the bands we have so far, i'd say we already have most of the bands that will play on the what/which stages, maybe a few more at most in the future additions
out of all the bands on the current lineup that i could see playing the smaller venues-blue room and troo music lounge, i don't see many:
nicole atkins felice brothers mason jennings-he's about equal in popularity as rocco deluca who played in the blue room cafe last year grupo fantasma backdoor slam
i think judging from ticket prices and the overall trend of the past few years means its very possible thursday will be bigger than ever before. the acts have been getting more and more legit. bonnaroo has gotten bigger and bigger and thursday night is sorta an obvious place to expand. perhaps a late night headliner/2nd tier act to open the fest? maybe im wrong, but i think a general expansion of thursday night isn't totally out of the question

It's been mentioned in other threads, but Langerado this year has a mini-headliner and late night on Thursday...I can't see Bonnaroo letting one of the smaller fests one-up them in any way...

i don't see thursday becoming a full day of music, but it could be possible that they finally use the which stage this year, i don't see the music starting at all before 7 pm on thursday, maybe kanye has a show this year on thursday, not necessarily latenight but definitely with his lightshow or whatever i'm hearing, maybe he plays at like 9 or something

Good work Natedogg. I just counted names on the posters, your way of doing it is much more accurate.
There's a lot of speculation about expanding Thursday but I don't see that either.
not knowing how superfly really works with money and all of it, i would go on a limb here and say that kanye might be part of the reason for ticket price going up [btw -i'm not hatin. i am waaaay pumped to see him play]. I do know that one floor ticket for his glow in the dark tour is $130 before extra charges. Plus, when he played at MTSU, tickets were around $45-50, even for students, so not many people showed and then the budget for concerts on campus was drained because of it.
atleast seeing him at roo saves me that $130 ticket to see him and a few other opening bands for one nite...

I think the rise in prices this year is due to two factors. One; prices always go up, that's just a common trend for all goods and services. Two, fuel prices are way up and going to be even higher this summer. This adds a large expense for touring musicians and results in a general uptick for all concert prices.
