i saw pearl jam at soldier field as my first show in 95...they were freakin' amazing. i also saw them at lollapalooza last year...was drained by the rest of the day so we didn't fight to get up front...great sound just didn't pay much attention to the content.
this year will be a different story...i will be up front for the roo for sure.
listen to their early work...you should have no problem liking them.

I have a recording of that Soldier Field show. It's one of the best show's they've ever put on.
For anyone who is interested, I'm currently uploading a few of their bootlegs for people to download. It covers more or less everything. They are a series of three shows they played in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Over the three shows, they played 102 songs, 101 of them different. They play everything off of their albums (minus their latest as it wasn't released yet) plus some great covers.

that's the beautiful part about Pearl Jam. You could hear pretty much any single song they have ever released on any given night. Some songs don't get played often, but they'll play almost everything at some point.
From Yield, we can expect to hear Do the Evolution and Given to Fly almost definitely, we'll probably hear Wishlist, there's a chance of hearing MFC, Low Light, Faithful and Brain of J. In Hiding isn't played often, but I have seen in played, so it's no impossible. Pilate never gets played and No Way hasn't been played since the Yield tour (and only 3 times or so on that tour).
If they do an acoustic portion to their set (which I think they might), they could play All Those Yesterdays.
Don't get my hopes up about ATY. I flew to California for the 2006 Bridge School Benefit and was sure they were going to play that there. I was so disappointed when they didn't play it in either of their short sets that weekend.
At least I got to hear No Way the first time they played it live, as well as Low Light at the 2001 Bridge School Benefit. I'd really like them to play Push Me Pull Me at Roo. Seems like a fitting place for them to play that.
I like that song...actually reminds me of when my dad was in a car wreck . minus the kissing... but the thought of a loved one being in an accident hit home.
I've just always thought it was a sappy song (and I don't think there's any denying it). They've got a hundred great songs, yet that sappy cover is their biggest single ever and the song that a lot of people know them by best.
I understand Last Kiss might have sentimental or nastalgic value for some of you, so I'll say this politely. Last Kiss is not an accurate representation of Pearl Jam's music and it kind of sucks that so many people quickly associate the band with that song. They have a very deep catalogue. Most of the people I've met who know Pearl Jam solely by Last Kiss think they stopped making music in the 90s, or even worse, should have stopped making music in the 90s.
That said, I'm sure when they play it at Bonnaroo in front of 80,000 people there will be a pretty cool singalong.

Thank you, kind sir that I have never met before...
And yes, I should have stated, I can definitely understand how that song has some nostalgic or personal value to people. Sorry if I came off a little hard

For some great PJ shows, check the 3-night run at the Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco in July of 2006. I was down front for all three shows, and the energy in the place those three nights was unreal. I've seen Pearl Jam close to 20 times since 1996, and those three shows are unmatched. (The first night, as far as pure crowd energy and eclectic song choice, is the best.)
I'd say they'll open with something slow, which they're masters at doing. Maybe "Release" or "Of The Girl," and then whip into something fiercer. Then again, at Lolla last year, they lunged right into "Why Go" and got the crowd ripping.
They've also done this a few times (and I think it's doubtful, but you never know): open with "Alive." Don't think they've done it since 2005, but it has happened. For the die-hard fans and non-fans alike, that would be pretty fucking amazing.
Personally, after seeing them open with "Release," I think that would be perfect. As far as guests go, it's a safe bet to see a few. Jim James (of MMJ), Jack Johson, and Cat Power would be the most likely guests, seeing that they've all collaborated with PJ before...but I don't think that Robert Plant is that much of a stretch. Last year at Lolla, Ed joined Ben Harper (no surprise) and Kings of Leon (no surprise) for their sets.
Gonna be awesome...see y'all down front, stage left near McCready.
