i wonder if aimee mann will appear during his set
or vice versa. also, shatner coming on stage with them, preforming "that's me trying"
that would make my roo experience
I hadn't heard of that one, so I googled and found out Shatner and BF have collaborated on 2 CDs. The one I Knew about was "In Love" on BF's "Fear of Pop: Vol. 1." www.amazon.com/Fear-Pop-Vol-Ben-Folds/dp/B00000FC65
i saw him at coachella 03 and it was one of the highlights that year(quite a few IMO)...he never gets old to me....def. will be listening to him when im 60...

Ben Folds has been part of my music collection long before I ever became wholly obsessed with music. I've seen him now upwards of a dozen times, and he's always tremendous. His '06 show was great, and even though I have no idea how I"m going to avoid conflicts at this Roo, I'm almost definitely going to make his show a priority again.

I have seen him live twice, both times just great shows. One of them was on or around Halloween 2006 and the opening jam of the show included him rocking out on this synth thing that he had just purchased that afternoon. He rocked this whole sort of 70's horror movie soundtrack, it was great. The whole show was great actually.

Man, I've been a Ben Folds fan for as long as I can remember. My mom would always rock the first two BFF albums on long road trips, a tradition I plan to continue on the way down to Manchester this year.
His shows are always so unique and spontaneous, with lots of improvisation and audience participation.
Here's a picture of me, one of my best friends and 5 other people, singing backup vocals with Ben on the song Underground. When he came to Washington College in late '06, a few kids up front started shouting for that song, and he said "Alright, but it's just me up here, so I need some backup singers" As soon as he said that, I instinctually started jumping up and down as high as I could. He then remarked "Wow, that dude can jump pretty high, get him up here" So I grabbed my buddy and we both ran up on stage, and it was supercool. Definitely one of my top five experiences ever.
(that's me on the end, stage left, opposite Ben, with my buddy Brian to the right of me)

That is the coolest thing. How great is that?
At the Halloween show, two people from the audience who claimed to be on a honeymoon or something got pulled on stage and got to sit up by the piano with Ben, how cool.

Can any recommend any albums - maybe a combination of what he might play (slash) some of his better stuff?
I'm listening to Songs for Silverman right now - not bad at first listen..in a good way : )
His rockin the suburbs is awesome and "whatever and amen" is by ben folds five (his previous band) but i've read that he plays stuff from that cd. some more famous traacks would be "army", "Rockin the suburbs", "The Battle of who could care less", "zak and sara", "gone", and "One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces" and his rendition of Btchs Ain't Sht".

his shows are always ridiculously good and he's amazingly talented. I would suggest trying to get your hands on a copy of one of his DVDs. "Ben Folds and WASO" (western australia symphony orchestra) is truly incredible as is the "Sessions at West 54th" (ben folds five) from back in '99.
Now you just told me that friendship is all I'm forced to repair the breech in my wall Illusions and dreams, as usual, it seems Sabra girl, they've been my downfall
