I posted in another thread that the first 3 listed are not always the headliners. In 2006 Beck was listed as 3rd and there was the same kind of talk as Jack Johnson is getting. In 2004 on the official Bonnaroo site they have Bob Dylan listed as 3rd but Trey was the main headliner. So it is not always the first 3 listed.
I corrected you in the other thread, but as long as you're reposting-- Beck was listed 5th in 2006 after Radiohead, Petty, Trey, and Elvis Costello. In 2005, it was WSP, DMB, and Trey (all of whom headlined I think). Yes, Trey was listed 4th in 2004 after Dylan, but we're talking about 6th or 8th billing before we get to Phil Lesh or the Allmans on this years lineup. Something doesn't add up.
With a price bump that big, I am still hopefull for Zeppelin also. Jack Johnson is really not big enough to headling imo, and I really hope to god that Kanye is not headlining.
I really really think that Superfly is holding back the good stuff to that regular Roo goers can get their tickets and Led Zeppelin and some other great bands are still to be announced.
I'm not positive, but I'm guessing the price bump could be from the combination of Metallica and Kanye. Neither of those have cheap tickets no matter where they play.
Ummm....Metallica tickets last time out topped off around about $85....Allmans tickets in May are $100 and $150
But never mind...it must be the band you don't want there's fault...

all the news articles say "metallica and pearl jam headline bonnaroo" no one even mentions jack johnson. It's obvious that there is someone else.... Les Claypool....maybe
Anybody who thinks that Metallica, Pearl Jam, and Jack Johnson are not the three headliners are simply fooling themselves into thinking something else b/c they don't want to believe that Jack could headline.
ur just mistaken. no way Jack Johnson Headlines and no way PJ plays 2 nights. I would bet big money on both of those facts. I've Jack Johnson, i like him but Bonnaroo would be making a huge mistake having him headline. In addition, i don't see PJ doing 2 nights. I just don't see that being a draw. also Metallica already has on their website that they are playing Friday, so there's no way PJ would play Sat and Sun. they just arent that big among bonnaroo goers to do 2 nights. also i think bonnaroo has realized 2 nights is not going to happen unless it's epic, which doesnt in any way shape or form include PJ. only way u do 2 nights from now is if ur Phish, Dead, or if Zep would do 2 nights, but since Zep keeps the same setlist i dont see that happening
Jack Johnson is saying on his website that he is, in fact, headlining.
until Bonnaroo says he's headlining i won't believe it. if he is headlining i think Bonnaroo has made a terrible mistake. I have seen Jack J and there's no way in hell he can headline. Maybe if it was 80,000 high school girls he could do it, but he lacks energy and he essentially plays pop. I just don't see it, I will be livid if he headlines, not because i dislike him or his music because im actually a fan of both, because he does not have the fire power to entertain 60,000 plus fans no way people would leave after 3 songs. also he has to fill over 2 1/2 hours of music
It's a mystery, that's for sure. On one hand you have Capps stating that no big names, including headliners, will be added. On the other hand, no news source has listed Johnson as a headliner, only Metallica and PJ. On one hand, Coachella has Johnson as a headliner. On the other hand, that's a smaller fest (attendance-wise) and Johnson just doesn't seem big enough for Bonnaroo. I'm in the dark here, and I hope they clear it up very soon.
AC/Superfly said, in response to rumors, that metallica would not play but guess who is headlining at the festival. never trust these guys, they are creating suspense and excitement to make money. they would never squash hopes because some people buy tickets based on hopes, it's just a stupid business move to say someone is definitely playing

"never trust these guys"? ok whatever that is supposed to mean
in response to rumors that led zepp and metallica were headling roo 08, superfly/ac entertainment said rumors are inaccurate. they didnt say "metallica would not play" the guys running bonnaroo are not creating suspense. theyre creating some of the deepest in talent and diverse in genre music festivals on the planet knowing people will show up. the one creating drama/suspense/speculation are the fans of the bands and attendees of bonnaroo.
i was listening to sirius 17 jam_on earlier and they said that bonnaroo announced lineup and pearl jam, metallica and jack johnson were headlining. odd he's headlining coachella, bonnaroo and there's speculation about all points west. he is awesome though.
