LED ZEPPELIN Guitarist To Hold Japanese Press Conference? - Jan. 24, 2008 According to a posting on the LED ZEPPELIN fan site Royal-Orleans.com, ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page will hold a press conference at Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjyuku, Japan on Monday, January 28. Park Hyatt is reportedly the hotel Jimmy stayed at during the 1996 PAGE & PLANT tour.
Times Online reported in December that LED ZEPPELIN could earn well over £100 million (approximately $200 million) if the hard-rock band went on tour this year in the wake of last month's triumphant reunion gig. The band is being pursued with offers from both Live Nation and AEG, the rival concert promoters, with each structuring bids in the form of a large upfront payment to lure the band to their venues.
One source said that "AEG put a bid in on the night" — although that could not be confirmed independently — but intense demand would probably make a ZEPPELIN reunion the most sought-after ticket in 2008.
The reluctance of Robert Plant, the lead singer, still makes a tour far from certain, although the three other band members are believed to be willing to go ahead. Venues in America have been held open in the hope that Plant will say yes.
It is likely that the four-piece band would be able at least to match the estimated $212 million grossed by THE POLICE for their reunion last year, according to figures compiled by Billboard, the industry magazine.

Hmmm... well, it does go to logic that since the Roo lineup is gonna be announced real soon, IF Zep should happen to be at the TOP of it, well, of course the band has to announce a tour BEFORE that happens... not that it means anything, but, well, timing is everything........................................................
This man came up to me just the other day, asked me I'd been born again. I told him, "I didn't think I had." That I had been rejected. But I think, Hell's got all the good bands anyway. And Bonnaroo.

I feel like this announcement probably has to do with the release of the Roo lineup... With all the rumors I don't think superfly wants LZ to say anything until Roo says it first.
That being said... I take this as more of an assurance that the lineup is going to be released soon more so than the thought of LZ headlining. Page could be announcing that they have decided not to tour, ya know... Who knows what'll come out of his mouth
this, at the least, is verrry interesting. having an announcement of an announcement usually means something big is going to be announced. prolly going to be a yes or no on the tour.

I will say that, in my opinion, having Zeppelin tour is the biggest hurdle to having them at Bonnaroo. So if that indeed is what Page will announce-- and that seems rather likely, doesn't it?-- then I agree that Zep @ Roo becomes significantly more likely.
There wouldn't be a press conference saying that there won't be a tour. If they won't tour they can just tell the Rolling Stone or Spin so it wouldn't consume much of their time.
You can't keep a lid on these things and I really believed where there's smoke, there's...
We still don't know for sure, but it looks like it's panning out like the Police. Police Rumors at Roo were a month or two before they were actually announced.
I bet we see Zeppelin at the Grammy's as well. John Paul Jones is already confirmed as being there with, get this, Dave Grohl and an orchestra.
Beyonce, Rihanna, Underwood Performing At Grammys Rihanna January 24, 2008, 2:30 PM ET Mariel Concepcion, N.Y. Beyonce, Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna are among the performers confirmed for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, to be held Feb. 10 at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
As previously reported, the Foo Fighters will perform as part of this year's "My Grammy Moment," produced in partnership with YouTube and CBS.com. The segment gives up to 20 unsigned musicians the opportunity to play with the rock group as part of an orchestra that will be arranged by special guest conductor John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame.
Aretha Franklin, who is the 2008 MusicCares Person of the Year, will share the stage with Blige, the Clark Sisters, Israel And New Breed, the Madison Bumblebees and Trin-I-Tee 5:7 for a gospel segment. And in a special 50th anniversary moment, Rihanna will perform with the Time, which is reuniting for the occasion.

I think we can all be reasonably certain that the press is not going to let him get out of that room without answering questions about the status of a possible tour. January is over. The meeting has been had. We're getting an answer on Monday.
