Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I just have a sneaking suspicion Rage Against the Machine will be a headliner next year. It's a hunch, like those seventies tv detectives got all the time.
If it does happen, remember your uncle mojo told you so. Who loves ya baby.

No offense to Rage fans but I hope they stay far away from Roo, along with RHCP. Those bands seem to play every fest in the land and their sets seem dry.

RATM is headlining 3 festivals this year, one of which is Vegoose, so I doubt they'd headline roo. It wouldn't be a big surprise and it wouldn't be unique enough to meet expectations. I hope Superfly comes up with some headliners that will completely take roo vets and newbies by surprise!
I truly believe Bonnaroo is ready for RATM, and likewise RATM is ready for Bonnaroo.
Tom Morello has already experienced it to himself (and enjoyed himself thoroughly), and I think Rage will be playing a lot of shows in 2008 since it is the election year.
I think Tool playing this year paved the way for Rage next year. Tool is definitely an atypical Bonnaroo band, and their music isn't very accessible (no offense Tool fans), and they still got a great reception. I think there would be plenty of people that would love to see Rage.
Dating myself here, but I saw RATM back in the day...Lolla '93. One of the best shows I've seen. I think they would be fine at Roo, IMHO. I know there are always worries about violence in the pit, but leave the pit to those who want it.

well i worried about tool fans causing problems, but i guess they didn't. ratm is even more agressive though.

I think they could probably find better headliners than Rage, but if that's who they pick I wouldn't really have any objections to it. Even though I left their politics behind with the age of fourteen, I still appreciate them musically. And I could still get into it live.

I am honestly torn on this one... I would love to see what exactly would happen during their set with the crowd, however there are many other bands that epitomize the Roo vibes much better than Rage. If they appeared on the headlining list, I wouldn't be too upset but there are much more deserving bands I think.

John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I doubt that'll happen. I don't Superfly would book the same headliner for Vegoose '07 and Bonnaroo '08. WSP is a different story, but that's just because they play so many festivals and if they don't headline they don't show (At least it seems that way).
Honestly, I tend to skip the headliners. After seeing music all day, I like to get a couple hours rest before going back for the late night shows. When you think about it you're only missing one act, and you should slap yourself multiple times if you miss late night. I've only seen one each year I've been. 2006: Radiohead 2007: WSP
.....Besides, I heard the RATM crowd kinda hurt the vibe at Coachella. But then again the festivals shouldn't really be compared.
Personally I would LOVE it....I would love to see RATM anywhere I get the chance ;D Course who knows if they will even still be together by then? They have been known to be a bit ummm...unpredictable? Explosive? Volatile? But then, that's what gives them that "raw energy"...wouldn't be Rage without it! ;D Entropy in action....you know the implosion is coming, you just don't know exactly when.....
I was at Bonnaroo this year, and I was at BOTH New York City Rage shows this past weekend....rage was great...and it was the worst audience I have ever been amongst...I found it amazing how many morons were into such intelligent music...
The point is, while Rage themselves are great live....their fan base would DESTROY the Bonnaroo vibe...they are not Tool who attract the open-minded metalheads...they attract the meatheads by the thousands!
It's funny I had been talkin all week about how different the Bonnaroo and Rage crowds were....and then I saw this thread.
It would be a disaster....I hope Superfly knows better....if they do this, they may as well get Metallica also.
^^^But do you really think THOSE Rage fans would swarm to Bonnaroo? I mean some of them would come...but I don't think Bonnaroo would be overrun like everyone is talking. I didn't see 'Roo overrun with Tool fans this year....I saw a lot of Bonnaroo fans discover Tool though....and I think that is more the likely thing that would happen if Rage played 'Roo. I don't see the sterotypical Rage fan shelling out $200 for tix and driving to Hickville TN, waiting in line for hours, camping out for days....nah. Not when they care for no other act playing. They'll go to Rock the Bells or Coach or Vegoose or VooDoo or some other place Rage is playing where they can do a one night thing and hit the clubs after.....

I mean... that might be fun... I saw Metallica once when they came into town here a few years ago and they put on a great show. Crowd wasn't bad either... ;D
But yeah, before Roo this year everyone talked about how the Tool fans would ruin the Roo vibe. It never happened. Same thing would happen with Rage, probably. Ticket prices are too high for any of "those fans" to purchase solely for Rage.
^^ What you have to remember is that RATM is from LA....
I just saw Rage at Rock the Bells in NYC.... I had waited all day to get a close spot... (sat through The Roots, Black Star, Public Enemy, Cypris Hill, and Wu-Tang) When Rage finally hit the stage it was mayhem. All hell broke loose and I swore that people were going to die..... I don't think anybody did but i could only bear about 3 tracks before i surfed my ass out of the crowd. I chilled and enjoyed the rest of the set form a distance. Bot Morello and De La Rocha were on point... I have been waiting to see Rage since 7th grade and they did not dissapoint.
That being said ... I really doubt they'll ever be asked to play Roo... just doesnt seem right....
p.s. Their were some really nasty Rage fans at the show which would totally stick out at Roo in a bad way.

Consider this. There are RATM fans all over the USA, right? And there's more than just a few, right? On their current tour, how many gigs have they played that have been in the South-East? ZERO. I would not be suprised at all if a boatload of asshole fans from all over the region of the country headed to Bonnaroo for the sole purpose of seeing Rage. It would definately happen if Rage played 'Roo.
However, the way it looks right now I wouldn't be shocked if they made up an actual schedule of venues to play around the states, in which case it wouldn't be that bad. But since RATM is booked for Vegoose, there is not a doubt in my mind that Superfly won't book them for 'Roo as well, being that they put a lot of effort into keeping the line up new and diverse.
