Ok, I have not seen a single bit of love for this set yet on this board, but oh my god these guys were freakin amazing. We left the Flaming Lips after an hour of watching them (that freakin UFO was amazing, so many lights), and decided to catch this set. All I have to say is that they threw it down for a solid 2 more hours and it was a non-stop funk filled extravaganza. We were able to get right in front of the soundboard and the whole band was spot on, especially Stanton Moore. Also the guests really gave it there all for a crowd that maybe not too many would know of them. If anyone recorded this set or knows of where I can get one, I would love to get it. Thanks and BONNNAAARRROOO!

When Galactic and Gift of Gab opened with Blackalicious' "Alphabet Aerobics" I knew it was ON!
The format was awesome: MCs>Galactic w/ Gift of Gab>Galactic>Galactic w/ Chali 2Na>Galactic>Galactic w/ MC>Galactic and so on and so forth.
It was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. Their was sick improvisation by all the MCs and the band. They gelled very well together at all times.

I caught the end of Galactic after the lips and it was the PERFECT was top off that night. After the Lips' emotional rollercoaster it was great to get down just shake my ass. And Boots Riley...Damn that guy can flow.

I staked out my spot for 2 hours before that show... i was front center, 1 person back from the rail the whole show. i honestly thought galactic reinvented hip hop that night. that was the sickest freestyle>improvisation>live band interaction that i've ever seen. it was an awesome show... second best to dubconscious' beast of a set on thursday night.
I've seen some good hip hop DJs, but Saturday night proved that NOTHING is sicker than a good live band.
That crowd was amazing too. We were totally hyped and dancing the whole night. I also had a 9.5 give me the hottest little unrequested striptease. Unbelievable all the way around. Sex, druqs and rock n' roll indeed.

When does bonnaroo.com start selling certain sets on their website. I would like to get the Rod y Gab, Galactic, Superjam, and a few that I completely missed (philly experiment, mago, and a few others). Well I will say this much, I will be getting the next Galactic cd and wouldnt it be great if they combined that with a dvd of this show, because that calibur of a show will probably never happen again.

This was one of my top 5 shows of ALL TIME (I see probhably 70+ bands per year). This was so amazing and the crowd was ridiculous. My favorite parts were when Mr. Lif played Settle the Score and then when Boots Riley did an original Coup song. Then the finale to Led Zeppelin with all the MCs out there might have been the most exciting moment I have seen live since I saw the Bad Brains back in 86.

This show was sick. I rank it even with Krewe de Carnival, but just behind the late night Galactic show from 2002 with Houseman, Kang, Robert Randolph, DJ Logic, and Eric Krasno. That is when I realized what Bonnaroo is all about!!
How can you top the 12 hours of music, including Ziggy, Ben Harper, The Police (maybe not one of the best sets, but one of the best bands of all time), Galactic, and Sasha?!?
unfortunately i don't think there's any chance of a livebonnaroo.com version of this for download, considering their new album comes out in august with all of the same mc's.
and wow, only one taper? i never bothered to notice what the taper situation was but that sounds daunting.

Do you think Galactic could release a DVD of this performance since it was a once in a lifetime show? I really would love to have that set with a soundboard quality mix, but these are probably far out wishes though.

Yeah, I can probably get them up tomorrow. I work from home and it took me almost all day to upload these to youtube and I still have a few Gogol to put up there

Oh I will be patient for that bootleg, just as long as I can get it down the road I will be happy. I really loved the fact at this show everybody was able to move around and had space. It really added to the atmosphere and you did not feel closed in like at a few shows.

some of the freestyles during kashmir were pretty weak, but other than that what i saw of the set was freaking awesome
I think they did that on purpose. Most of their freestyles during the encore were just to screw with people, which is why Gift of Gab and Charlie 2na were just mumbling incoherantly. I'm sure all of those artists noticed the extreme dryspell of sobriety among the audience, and simply wanted to play along.

god does anyone want to mention LYRICS BORN? That guy can work a crowd like no other. the last hour of that set blew my mind. do you remember when he went through his whole line of "i dont care if your talking, i dont care if you dropped something, i dont care if your high, i dont care if....ect ect ect and everyone including the band memebers went WILD. i think that was the loudest moment ive had at a concert from just crowd response.
