I've bee to Roo a few times and have always enjoyed the late night...but would you agree that the LATE NIGHTS this year are the best part of the whole fest?
I think the SCI and SuperJam are the best part of Friday..and Gov't Mule/Galactic/FLips is the best part of Saturday.
Hell. For that matter, the best part of Thusday is the late night...Rod Y Gab and Tea Leaf Green.
Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. You can throw in the late night comedy (David Cross on Thursday), and it seems like the jazz tent has a lot of the big dogs playing during the late nights. I am definitely going to be up late and sleeping in. Thankfully, the schedule does not have too many must watch's before 3:00 pm. Tortoise is my earliest must see, and they are at 2:15 on Friday. As long as I don't overdo it on Thursday - which I did last year - I should have no problem for Tortoise. But to get back on topic. These late nights are crazy, like almost too crazy, and it is what catapaults Roo over everything else out there. Great bands playing 2-4 hour sets from 12 to ? at five stages at once (including Jazz Tent).
If only there were four of me Friday and Saturday, then maybe I would be satisfied. 9 of my top 15 shows all competing with each other in two late nights, and now with Superjam thrown in, I think they are trying to kill us.
Death by music, the Bonnaroo way! (and how sweet it is)

That's hilarious. I can see it now. we'll all draw and quarter ourselves straining to be in four places at once.
and yes, late night is the heart of the bonnaroo experience and this year's late nitghts are INSANE!!!!!! I feel fortunate that for me, Friday is less of a problem since I don't care for SCI or STS9. But that still leaves 3 places I want to be.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I have already decided I WILL NOT be sleeping at all Fri or Sat night! I can sleep after 'Roo....it's way overrated! I may have to look into that 6 am moon bounce pick-me-up thing though.... ;D
I beg to differ....there are "best parts" happening all around the clock: musically, socially and fun-fully. Are people more willing to let loose once the sun goes down, yep...are the acts scheduled late night geared towards that bent....hellz yeah!
I love it all equally, like my children.....well, I'm sure I would if I had some.

I think the latenights are the best part this year (as usual). But my favorite day this year is Sunday, which doesn't even have a latenight. Go figure.

weeelllll the best part will be when Xav is on stage working his magic, without a doubt in my mind BUT I'de predict the Late night is going to kick some major behind.
The Late Nights are what its all about. I love wandering around in the heat and hanging out during the day, but it all feels like its preparation for the latenight, you can just kind of feel the excitement growing as the sun goes down.
I didn't realize until Saturday night last year that the late nights were where it's at and sadly missed everything past Petty on Friday... a tragedy that pains me even now. This year, when the sun goes down, IT'S ON.
i didn't explore the late nights as much in 05. i saw tmv the first night. the next night i was too tired. this year i will do it no matter what. no way am i missing flips and mule.
Absolutely........my first Roo I obviously wasnt certain what I was in for and we didnt really plan so I missed alot of the late night sets including DJ Krush. Ill never forgive myself for that. But now that this is my third year i am well prepared for the madness that is late night sets
Somehow, some way, the only late night show I made it to last year was MMJ, and that ended up being the best show I've ever seen in my life, so I'm hoping this year to get more out of my late nights. WAY more. Like, 4am+ more. The schedule this year is ridiculous, I am so ready to go balls to the wall for 15 hours on Saturday.
Sleep 7am - 11am (give or take). But it might take making friends with someone in an RV to accomplish this.
Late night IS Roo. However, I do enjoy the daytime stuff too (Seeing Black Keys & Kings of Leon Friday is a good example.) But it's the complete experience that is so amazing.
