I've been listening to a lot of FLaming Lips lately. I'm a little surprised I've never really found them before. CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THE SHOW...but I'm just curious...Since they probably play the same set pretty often...can anyone pass along a likely Roo setlist so I can familiarize m'self.
Race For The Prize Bohemian Rhapsody Free Radicals Yoshimi Battle The Pink Robots, Pt. 1 Cow Jam Yoshimi Battle The Pink Robots, Pt. 2 The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song The Gash The W.A.N.D. She Don't Use Jelly Do You Realize?? ----------- Love Yer Brain War Pigs
This seems to be, give er take a song here or there, what their setlist looks like most of the time.
This was their setlist at Lollapalooza 2006, but of course, it was only an hour long..
1. Ta! Da! 2. Race For the Prize 3. Free Radicals 4. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 1 5. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 2 6. Vein of Stars 7. The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song 8. The W.A.N.D. 9. My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion 10. She Don't Use Jelly 11. Do You Realize??
I've never seen the Lips live before. They still play She Don't Use Jelly!?! I bought Transmissions when it first came out and listened to it probably daily in high school. When I play that back to back with At War, it's like listening to a totally different band to me. Same with Radiohead. It's weird how some bands morph with time and other bands are just stuck in time. Anyway, can't wait to see them!

This is there only gig in the US for a few months I think, along with it being one of the members bdays, I bet we are going to have a monster track list (at least I hope for my first time seeing them live)
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
I really like Transmissions, although I don't think they'll play much off it. I would love to hear Fight Test instead of She Don't Use Jelly, but *sigh* I don't think it will happen. I could do without the Yeah Yeah Yeah Song (I can't stand it, honestly), but it looks like a good setlist. I imagine Bohemian Rhapsody would be amazing!

ive seen them twice and it was pretty much the exact same setlist. This is one reason why im probably going to see Gov't Mule instead. Even if the Flips have a UFO.

wishlist:
feeling yourself disenigrate up above the daily hum in the morning of magicians the spark that bled the spiderbite song
they covered floyd in '03, so maybe they will play some, but I would honestly rather see them do pompeii (au gutternburg * I know I butchered the name of this song...) which is a big probability... that song is floyd-esque anyways, and its cool that steven sings lead on it.
bohemian rhapsody would be cool, but id rather them play an original tune which they dont often play
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson

I saw the lips in 03. it was an amazing show, and it'll be similar. i saw them again last summer and their set-up and set-list were really quite different. so i know they've changed things up since then. what will be the same...it will blow everyones mind. they put on one of the funnest shows you'll ever see. unfortunately, i may not make it to their set because of the shi**y conflict with galactic's hip hop showcase. i guess i'll just wait and see what i'm in the mood for that night.
oh yeah, one more thing about the lips....
in 2003 they were scheduled 12-4am. they played a little under 2 hours. meanwhile, MMW were still jammin' out until the end. then particle's legendary 4-9am set. what a night that was.
