Wow! How did this turn into such a hatefilled post? I hope you all get your hate out here and don't bring it to Roo!
I saw Mraz at Roo in '04. He was GREAT!
I've seen him live twice. The first show was all acoustic and was great. The second show I don't think I was as thrilled, but it was a long night so that kind of hinders my memory.
The acoustic show had a opening act named Raul Midon. A blind guy that was absolutely phenomenal. He used his guitar and voice in such a way that he could practically sound like an entire band. I don't know that he's ever been to 'roo, but he would be a great cafe act.
As far as Mraz's "poppy" albums, I was thinking last night that we all do things to pay the bills, and sometimes we don't like what our boss (or record labels or producers) tell us to do, but sometimes we just take their word for it. Much like John Mayer, Jason's live show is a lot different from his album. Not to mention people don't seem to understand that all artists, musicians included, evolve. Tastes change. You slowly find what you like. I take as much joy in observing the evolution of an artist as I do the music itself. Even if it can start out that you don't like it, it can change over time, the artist's style and your tastes can change as well.
Now all the metallica stuff, I don't care for them for a variety of reasons. But for the life of me I can't figure out how metallica came up here?
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

wow, I just went to the youtube link of "I'm Yours".... Is it unhealthy to swallow the vomit in my mouth?
Karma, because someone had to say it. I think watching the video was more detrimental to your health than the vomit.
But seriously. Love all around. I'd be happy to see the guy get added just because some folks would enjoy seeing him. Plus, I'm also looking for some good breaktime this year. Didn't have enough time to rest in 06.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

Only to a degree. There's a thin line between voicing your distaste for an artist and attacking someones personal taste in music. On the same hand, too many people mistake a harsh comment on a performer for an attack on them.
All this tells me is that there are too many people who need to lighten up a little.
