i think their set will be between 2-2.5 hours. i think they'll play a similar set to what they have been playing with wings 1&2 add third eye and one or two others like pushit, jimmy, or h.
ok i finally found the setlist...the last show of the tour in 2002 that with all the songs/theatrics/extended intros/solos hit the 3 hour mark. its old, i know, but the point is you cant say tool has never played 3 or more hours because they undeniably have. im hoping for another special show at 'roo, i could be wrong, but you cant rule out the possibility. heres the setlist:

Whatever man, I just don't think that "more" necessarily qualifies as "different". It's just me though.
(If you order extra cheese on you hamburger, that doesn't make it a milkshake....does it?)
Your arguing semantics...yes something that has more means it is different than the object that has less......they arent the same and they arent equal so they must be different

seriously, not trying to be an ass, but that isnt a 3 hour show. I saw 3 shows that tour, right in at 2 hours. Assume for a second that each song listed there is 10 minutes long, thats only what 130 minutes? or 2 hours and 10 minutes, and 10 minutes per song is pushing it a bit based on the set list. Tool does not alter their songs very much, if they do its never to "jam out" in the middle and make things longer, its to "look at it from a different light, a different angle". I think I, more then anybody in the world, wish they would play a 3 hour set, but they never have, not once in their 17 years.
Simple fact is Tool doesnt add much to their songs, because they dont need to. Any Tool fan, that has been to a show knows the reasons their sets are the way they are.
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
^^^I agree. I think the roles have sort of been reversed from last year where it was the modern act who was expected to turn in something special and the nostalgia act that wasn't (Not that Petty didn't try).
For me, The Police are the main draw though like Radiohead last year. So I'm expecting them to do something special. Whereas Tool sort of falls into that Tom Petty category of acts that I want to see but wouldn't necessarily have gone out of my way to see them if they weren't playing Roo.
I'm really looking forward to Tool though. Should be an eye opener.

I don't see anything to out of the ordinary happening for the Police show. They will play most likely a standard tour type set, alittle over 2 hours, with a good amount of hits, and a few goodies. It will be very similar if not close to the exact same show people see every other stop of the tour. That being said, I am extatic for the show, as any Police show should kick ass! Tool I feel has a much beeter shot at being a huge show. They normally only play an hour and a half, and I think they will be stretching their show to about 2 hours and 15 minutes of ROCK!
i agree. why would the police come out from the catacombs for just a 90 min show? maybe at a place where they have to be off the stage by 11 pm because of city ordinances. from what i hear, they will have a 3 hr window in which to kick azz. i just hope they choose to fill the entire void!
ok, like most of you, i'm hoping for a 3-2.5 hour show from tool, though i suspect they'll play for 2-2.25 hours.
maynard is quite the mad man. i used to be a stagehand for a few years. usually the bands we set up for were crap (american idol, cher's 4 fairwell tours, etc.), as the events were held in the local coliseum. well the only band i was ecastic about was tool -- i'm OGT, from '92 and the first EP, opiate, though aenima is now my favorite with all its lush psychedellicness.
back to the coliseum: a few other hands and i wanted to watch their sound check. we went in and sat down -- in two seconds a flashlight was on us and security was kicking us out -- we would often watch sound checks! later on, as we were sitting out in the hall and chatting, more goons came out into the hallway and kicked us out, back into the coliseum. WTF? Maynard was going back into his dressing room. i cracked the door and looked into the hall -- an older lady was holding a blanket over Maynard's head as they briskly walked to the dressing room. i got the impression that, if i had seen him, he would have screamed like a girl and run away.
the point of this story is that Maynard, at least, seems very paranoid and suspicious of everyone. it doesn't seem like he's the type to say, "ok, this is bonnaroo -- let's do something incredible for our fans! then i'll run away and hide."
oh, also, no one in the band had a light of any kind on them, besides danny. you couldn't see crap.
that being said, tool had the best food for the stagehands than any band. i can still remember that smooth, spicy, shrimp bisque. and their show was a complete trip; and i managed to catch danny's drum stick that he threw out aftewards. it was an amazing night, but Maynard's still insane.

Yeah, I saw a show on that tour too. Had almost that exact setlist, except replace The Patient with Ænima. It came to right about 2 hours.
I have a live tool show from France in December of 06. Set list is as follows:
Bass Drones Stinkfist 46 & 2 Jambi Schism Lost Keys Rosetta Stoned Swamp Song Intermission Wings For Marie 10,000 Days (Wings part 2) Lateralus Vicarious Aenema
The show clocks in at about 2 hours and 15 minutes, so Tool definately has the ability to make it at least 2 and a half hours, which is about the time I am guessing they will take. If you throw Third Eye into the above set you easily get to two and a half hours. I think they will definately do something a little different for Bonnaroo. They would not have taken the show if they intended it to be just another tour stop, so I look for them to bring it to a new level. By the way, this will be my nineth time seeing them live, and I expect it to be the best show by them I have ever seen.
The last time I saw Tool was May 21, 1994(my 20th birthday) in a small club in Nashville called 328 Performance Hall. Just seeing them again is enough for me no matter how long they play.
Neil Young's set in '03 went well beyond 90 minutes. Like a Hurricane alone was almost 30 minutes long.
Just listened to my recording of that show, it was 2hrs 20 minutes...He took a 15-20 minute setbreak too, I recall, so he pretty much filled the entire allotted time. And not only was Like a Hurricane about 30 minutes, Love To Burn was a little over 20 minutes. Throw in Cortez the Killer and that's an hour right there.

I'm and huge tool fan and that was a damn awesome story. Though this doesn't surprise me of Maynard. You can't expect someone who has done the amount of substances he has to be normal anymore....
well, you ask me why i'm drunk all the time it levels my head and eases my mind i just walk along and stroll and sing i see better days and i do better things
