Steely Dan are one of the best bands of all time, can't be said enough. A lot younger people probably just pass over them considering them a cheesy 70s band, or some may get turned off by the background vocals that as my girlfriend says, makes it "gay", but she doesn't understand. They're some of the best songwriters ever.

You're entitled to your opinion but I think its cheesy crap, I would rather not have it at Bonnaroo. My boss plays it at work all the time so I have heard plenty of it and I dont like it, but to each his own

Wow, I didn't know there were respectable music lovers that didn't like Steely Dan. They are an amazing songwriting duo that fused jazz compositional styles in a totally unique way. Not to mention that they constantly surrounded themselves with the very best of studio and touring musicians. They kick ass.

If i could really have any band from around then that wasnt huge like zeppelin or floyd, it'd be Yes. That'd be awesome to see them at roo, i have no idea what type of shape the members are in though, or if they're all even alive.

I would find it difficult to enjoy music played by my boss all the time as well. My condolences for that.

I'd rather have Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler
Stop getting me all riled up.
I can just never look at Steely Dan the same way after reading those letters to the Wilson Brothers and Wes Anderson. It was just the epitomy of retartedness.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

I could probably just google their names but what exactly does this reference:

??
Also Steely Dan is great. I thought the name was from A Monty Python sketch (not that they couldn't have stolen it from Burroughs...whose mad genius is still underappreciated)...or is this just an old Brit-slang term for dildo?
also please don't harsh on me for digging up old threads.... i'm one of those old school net users (yes i said "net') you remembers that the purpose of threads was to avoid having a million nearly identical topics and having to sort through everything with the slow ass search features.
