SCI will headline Sunday before the Stripes will. I see them playing in something like Becks spot from last year. I think Id be very happy with them playing in that slot.
Im also thinking we got a pretty good shot at seeing some unreleased tunes this year at Roo.
edit: Now that I think about it, Bob and Ratdog are almost a lock for the Sunday night headliner unless something else has been announced that I dont know about.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
the white stripes closing bonnaroo would be like the white stripes closing out ozzfest. it just cant happen. if it does im still going but mark my words i wont spend a penny at anything superfly makes money off of. and i will think better about giving them my ticket money before i see a schedule next year. i go to alot of festivals and i cant imagine skipping roo. but if the price continues up and the lineups continue in the direction theyve been going i might have to. throw in restaurants and a cinema and im outta there!! but i doubt we have to worry about it, superfly knows what sunday is to rooers. and its not the white stripes. have they ever even put on a show remotley approaching 3 hours?? tom pettys hour and a half of greatest hits might fly on friday but a show like that wont fly on sunday at roo!
Do Bob and Ratdog really have that huge of a draw? I feel really in the dark about them...
well they are headlining 10klf and gathering of the vibes. but they have already played a non-headlining spot at roo. it would take phil and bobby to get the headliner i think. or just phil and some amazing friends like scofield, medeski, or trey.

^^the white stripes could play logn enough for a headlining spot, but i highly highly doubt they will get a sunday headlining spot. i'm really excited to see them but i don't want to see them headling sunday it wouldn't eb the same. luckily i don't think we have to worry about it, as i think roo isn't going to put them as a sunday headliner

haha. so much passion for the tradition of 'Roo. I think as Dylan so eloquently put it once: "The times they are a changin'".....or maybe I'm completely wrong and they aren't a changin'. ;D
Where does your hate for the Stripes come from? Don't dig the Seven Nation Army? Hehe... I'm with ya, I want someone a little more worthy to close out the entire fest. I want some form of Phil with a bunch of great musicians. WSP doesn't get me so excited, it just seems like the "same ol' same ol'" for 'Roo. But Phil with Winwood and others...mannnn
actually im into checking out the white stripes. seven nation army turns me off a bit. but im still excited to see them as long as they dont go up against something i really wanna see. but the white stripes closing down roo would be sacrilege. i know the time are a changin but i doubt they would go that far.

I also don't think the White Striped will get a headline spot. They are big, but not 90,000 big. And last year many media sources cited Besk as one of the headliners too so the media calling them a headliner means nothing.
I will also keep repeating, WSP with Herring are a new animal so anyone basing their judgement on the two roo 2005 shows is in for a different and significantly better experience. I did not enjoy the 05 shows. The two NYE shows this year were AWESOME! Herring is incredible.
I expect the Beck slot but am hoping for the Trey latenight slot.
I am gonna go with there has to be a fourth headliner this year because if you guys think about it this year roo is being advertised as a four day festival and in the past it has been advertised as a 3 day festival. (correct me if I am wrong but im almost positive) This year on the press release for the bands they also said that there would be 100+ bands which is again if i remember correctly about 20 more than they advertised last year.
With that said and knowing that the Police will play Sat, tool will almost certainly play Fri, and WSP announcing Thurs as there spot (on myspace) and there website says 14-17 that definably leaves hope.
Now as far as the White Stripes go there a good band but as far as closing roo it seems highly unlikely considering that it seems like a departure to far from what roo has done in the past plus closing as festival that big (80,000+ people) that is arguably the biggest festival of the year and most widely known seems unlikely. Not to mention the fact that it would be to simular to Coachella..
With all that said I think there are probably only a few bands or performers that could fill the shoes of a spot that large and with all the media attention that has been put on Roo just even in the last year with the fact that Radiohead headlined there gonna need someone big even larger then WSP (although the year(s) they played they were big enough in the past comparison to media attention) someone that everyone knows or could at least relate (know the name of) to sell the tickets. I believe that we may be in for a new re-incarnation of the Dead (Bob, Phil, Trey, John Molo, Steve Winwood, Joan Ozborne, ect.)
The last thing I want to mention is that if you check the dates for ratdog the last Show listed is for bonnaroo and if you guys also remember last year was the launching point for Phil and Friends and Trey, Mike and the duo (superjam was the first show) tour.
well it was just pointed out that ween has thursday at 8 ontheir myspace. no way them and wsp both play at 8 on thursday. id say its just sthe start date of the fesitval and the time that my space probably puts up by default or soemthing.

I've always said one thing about the Stripes. De Stijl is a great album, have no clue what happened after that. Not that their newer stuff is god awful, its just that De Stijl can really get me going.
They're worth checking out, even if its just to see them play some stuff off De Stijl like Death Letter and Little Bird. Speaking of which, Im gonna go throw that on.

Yeah, but you have to take in consideration the Cafe bands are included in the 100+ bands. Last year there were around 32, so expect around the same amount this year too. I really hope you guys are right and there is a 4th headliner, but I wouldn't get your hopes up to high. The date on WSP myspace is most likely the default date, if it was the real date, I think they would have it on there official site instead of the 14-17.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Not saying that the WS will be a headliner for Sunday, because I don't think that's Roo's style, but they could totally be a headliner for any night. trust me Jack White is that good, even if he is basically the only one on stage. No offence to their drummer; she's good and all, but nothing amazing or anything...CHECK OUT THIS VID OF DEATH LETTER
I'm tired of trying to explain to people why there won't be a Thursday headliner. We should cut to the chase and start a betting pool.
A bit of harmless speculation...I mean, at least it's not "Talking Heads reunion!" or "Phish reunion!" or "Led Zeppelin reunion!" or "CCR reunion!" Those kinds of comments and threads drive me up the wall.
But given the added date on the announcement and the presence of four acts that are arguably too big to be on the Which Stage but not big enough to hold down a headlining slot (White Stripes, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Wilco, Manu Chao), I think it's fair enough to wish. I'm sure you're right, but believe for one minute that AC/Superfly has something special up their sleeve...

i deffiantly have faith somethign special will happen thursday. it may be a headliner (not wsp) or it mgiht be some kind of special crazy latengiht extravaganza
well the way i see it if wsp played thursday and the did have the white stripes headline sunday, which they wont, but if they did it would be kinda funny for the thursday headliner to play a longer set then the fri, sat, and sun headliners put together. well funny in a very sad way.
I know this sounds like blasphemy, but I think I like thursday not being a big day with the big acts, after a long drive and little sleep for a couple of days before. I like being able to chill at camp and get a little sleep to kick off 3 days of nonstop craziness.
