REM is so fricken awesome. I saw them in '04 at the Vote for Change tour (with Bright Eyes, Springsteen and the E Street Band, and John Fogerty) and they were absolutely incredible. 3+ hours of these guys would fit 'Roo quite well.

Are they really that good live? I'm a big fan but the live stuff I've heard didn't sound so great. What are they like in a live setting?

Hm, well they don't exactly kill it with improvs or jams or anything, but they have such an extensive discography that at any given moment they can bust out songs that make you go "holy nuts!" in surprise and happiness. Stipe is an incredible frontman too, he's got some good moves and always keeps the crowd completely into it.

I wouldn't think it's that far out of the question. They did headline ACL in 2003, so they have a precedence for playing festivals before.
