For those of you who thought Pearl Jam was playing, it looks as though they will not. Billboard even titled the article Pearl Jam picks Europe over Bonnaroo:

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Pearl Jam will play 13 shows in Europe in June and will not, as has been claimed, appear at this summer's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn. The band will play six headlining shows and appear at seven festivals, beginning June 8 in Lisbon. The trek runs through June 29 at Belgium's Werchter Festival.
According to a spokesperson, the band, which toured extensively in 2006 in support of their self-titled debut for J Records, has no other shows scheduled for 2007. "Historically, there have been five years or so between our visits to Europe, so it's a treat to go back again so soon," says band manager Kelly Curtis.
There is, however, new Pearl Jam music at radio, in the form of a cover of the Who's "Love Reign O'er Me." As previously reported, the song will appear in the upcoming Adam Sandler film "Reign Over Me" and will also serve as the A-side of the holiday single sent to members of Pearl Jam's Ten Club fan organization.
Ten Club members will get first crack at tickets via a pre-sale, via which some shows begin going on sale today (Jan. 26). General public onsales and opening acts have yet to be announced. According to the band's Web site, the entire floor area for a June 18 gig at London's Wembley Arena will be reserved for fan club members.
Here are Pearl Jam's European tour dates:
June 8: Lisbon (Passeio Maritimo Alges) June 9: Madrid (Festimad) June 12: Munich (Olympichalle) June 13: Katowice, Poland (Chorzow Stadion Slaski) June 15: Italy (city/venue TBA) June 16: Vienna (Nova Rock Festival) June 18: London (Wembley Arena) June 21: Dusseldorf, Germany (LTU Arena) June 23: Tuttlingen Germany (Southside Festival) June 24: Scheebel, Germany (Hurricane Festival) June 26: Copenhagen (Forum) June 28: Nijmegen, Holland (Goeffert Park) June 29: Werchter, Belgium (Werchter Festival)

While it makes me sad, I can't help but also feel excited at the thought of all the acts that could be there instead. There's just such a possibility, perhaps with many people none of us have even thought of. This should be very interesting. It's the excitement of mystery and surprise.
Well that kinda excites me cause it means we haven't got a "real" line-up yet despite the rumors, so there's still alot of excitement and unexpected bands to look forward to

it definitely sucks. If there was one headliner that i thought was set it would have been pearl jam but that is how it goes. No one really has a clue Superfly has done a great job of keeping things an unknown. I am just curious if this was a cancellation or they were never planned at anytime.
Could this possibly be the reason that the announcement is for Feb 14th, as opposed to sometime in late January (as we were originally led to believe)? Did PJ snub the Roo and leave them scrambling?

I doubt superfly got snubbed, they prolly have had something amazing to announce for a long time now.
And, they eat up the fact that all of us sit in obsessive anticipation like dorks everyday.
I have a hard time believing that the headliners aren't already set. I don't think that bands of this magnitude with all the scheduling and preparation involved could just snub Bonnaroo. Plus, being an obsessive Pearl Jam fan I know that it just isn't their style to "snub" like this. On another note and I know I won't be believed because this is my first post (ok I'm an admitted lurker) but I heard from a pretty reliable source that The Police are confirmed. That being said the door is really open for the other headliners and I can't wait to find out who they are.

We heard the same rhetoric from people about Pearl Jam being confirmed...(inside sources)...I'm not getting my hopes up for anything anymore until an announcement is made.
pj has played festivals since the no more festival thing. and the delay is imo, obviously for the police reunion. i think if it is more likley that if there was a stub it was superfly saying pj wouldnt be a headliner so pj said no. again i wanna see pj. but headlining roo seems impossible to me. vegoose seems more of a possibility. or coachella. for a healdine that is, not that they belong there instead of roo. but coachella headlines small/different acts then roo does. . but my guess is that it was pure rumor the whole time. and the lineup with dylan and pj headliners was never realisitic.

Major bummer. The saddest thing about this to me is that they have no other tour plans for 2007. Which means no tour in the south, the ppl who REALLY got screwed. They didn't tour anywhere in the south last year and again this year. Oh well i guess.

That sucks! Oh well, having seen them 3 times last year, I can wait until 2008 it looks like. They are probably getting a lot more money to headline all those festivals then what they would have gotten for Bonnaroo.
Yeah this sucks. I hope they do blow us away with some sort of amazing surprise. They better get The Arcade Fire though, not for a headliner. If they're not there I might consider skipping Roo for Coachella this year. I dunno, I gotta see this line-up first, but everything's on the table at this point.

actually the same place i heard the europe rumor mentioned a southern US rumor including atlanta, west paul, and new orleans to name a few...
so 07 isnt a complete bust for southern PJ fans, i was just hoping it would include the roo cause then i wouldve seen every one of my favorite bands there except for phish
Goddamnit. This was really shitty news to wake up to today. Pearl Jam is my favorite band, and I've NEVER been as pissed off at them as I am right now.
So, let me get this straight. Instead of playing at a festival that is perfect for them and where they can easily be the highlight, they decide to tour Europe, which they just toured less than 6 months ago.
I almost feel betrayed right now. Sorry to sound overdramatic, but I'm very disappointed.

well none of us really know if they were confirmed or not. For all we know superfly didn't even ask or consider them. I find it hard to believe but it could have been because they fit so easily in the trend that superfly has been evolving for the festival that we just thought it to be true. Either way though they aren't coming.

don't worry, they'll be back in the states soon enough, either to warm up for the euro shows or afterwards, either way the south got shafted and i truly believe they will get their shows, and if you haven't noticed already the pit has turned into a big pissing match today so i'd stay away for a while
