talking bad about the dead wont get you very far around here.
come on guys. thatd be like so rad if we could get rid of the surviving dead and pearl jam could headline. and roo could be more like those bigger festivals with fallout boy and my chemical romance playing on the mainstage that rooskew likes so much.
id rather listen to the dead fart in a porta potty then see most of the bands you recommend.
thanks for the lineup changes superfly. now we get to interact with these cats.

The comment was ironic, man. I dig the Dead. It's not even worth explaining.
And please name the bands I have recommended other than PJ. I did a guess the bands list like everyone else. The fact that you can't read (not picking up on similarities to decades-old festivals and the 5 year old Roo) or can't do math (150k+ > 80k) is not my responsibility. Not understanding irony, to boot, is way out of my jurisdiction.
And I'm sure you'll be sorry to notice that I've been to Roo multiple times. Sorry about your newbie theory.
The Frames Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos Snowglobe ALO Glen Phillips TV On The Radio Travis Pearl Jam Eels The Music Charli 2na (solo)
Sorry, had to turn it up to 11.

not that we needed any more proof you have no idea what your taking about. or maybe i misunderstood your "10 bands you want at roo" post because i cant read. who cares about 150 thousand poeple showing up to see fall out boy and mcr. brittney spears and eminem sell out stadiums all the time. dosent mean they are bigger and better then umphreys or les claypool. or anyone for that matter. and i ddint imply your a newbie. i know youve been before. but that dosent mean your not one of the people that wanna change the hell out of roo making it some roo/coachella bastard hell spawn.
goddamn mtv/vip crowd.
oh and ill take an alo show. but the rest are at your fest not mine.

Haha... I was hoping you would post that. Please everyone, if you can look at that list and see an act that has been on Mtv in the last 5 years, please raise your hand... anyone? Hey, I'll do you one better-- besides PJ and Eels, who were on Mtv for three years combined TOPS in the 1990's, have ANY of these bands had a video played on Mtv?
"Dude," do you even know who half of those bands are?
This is hilarious. On one side of your mouth you say I'm a mainstream, Mtv-hugging, big-bad-demon come to change "your Roo" and then the other you "prove" it by posting a list of bands that contain almost entirely non-mainstream, indie, international, Harp-and-Relic-featured musicians! Please, go on! I know you're not about "diversity" - but Roo is more than just 6 bands and always has been.
Oh and you forgot the other list I was hoping you would show... (Seriously man, you need to read sarcasm-- I was ASKING you to show what bands I have recommended to prove the point that I haven't been suggesting or asking for Fallout Bit_ch or My Chemical Roma_ss.)

Okay- some of this is hopeful on my part and some just logical. It's not my dream team, but a good feeling on each entry. Lemme know if I've incorrectly put someone in one slot or another.

Repeat Offenders: My Morning Jacket w/ Bobby Bare Damien Rice The Frames Ben Harper Kermit Ruffins Gov't Mule Primus Saul Williams Rebirth Brass Band ALO The Legendary Shack Shakers Cut Chemist The Black Keys Donna The Buffalo moe. Ben Kweller Liz Phair Josh Ritter Norah Jones
lol.... same story different year. i didint say your list was mainstream or mtv i said that pj was. and this crazy ass mtv eurofest that you said roo was smaller then. i did say that id rather listen to the dead fart in porta pottys over anyone you reccommended and i completely stand by my statement. i didnt try to "prove" any mainstream. you asked me to please name the bands you suggested so i did. and that if the dead put on an acoustic fart show at the nasty poop mud filled centeroo porta potties they would draw a bigger crowd then any of those bands at roo.

"show my list so i can talk about how cool i am. no wait ill show it myself.... see how non mainstream i am." gimme a break man. like i said the dead on a toilet man.

Just to clarify- if a band appeals to a lot of people we're supposed to turn on them, right?
Roo is a smaller festival than Glastonbury and the Reading/Leeds. There's no shame in that. As many or more bands and more people (twice in some cases). Europe has been about festivals for a long time. Roo is a much finer festival than those, but it isn't bigger.
Keith, please go back to the mellow, good natured dude that emerged post-Roo 2006! This is the same crazy bullsh*t you were spouting off before the fest last year! If you'd like, I can start to mine the exact arguments and bump them up as a reminder. Diversity does not equal bad, my man!
but you didnt just imply big as in in numbers. you implied that if a band is big enough to headline there then they are qualified to headline the smaller bonnaroo. thats what ya said and its a joke. that festival is a joke. and if your using that as a measuring stick fallout boy and my chemical romance are playing the mainstage at that fest. surely they can play at tiny old roo. and no you dont have to turn on a band for becoming popular. i like pj. i want them to play roo. but to think they should headline is living in a fanboy heaven.
i try to be mellow and good natured. but this all erupted because i wondered where these people suggesting moby, blue man group, hootie and the blow fish, jimmy buffet etc... came from. i think thats a valid question. and because rooskew talks about the dead on a festival board and then lists a bunch of bands that couldnt carry the deads jock straps. ill try to keep it to myself but it just seems that hipsters are taking over.

ok i will admit that i didnt know they played that much. i guess we just dont hear about it much. but they are still slacking on the fests. outside of roo they only played high sierra. also lolla, v, summerfest, but those are citified more mainstream fests. id like to attend any of them but they arent festivals in tha same sense as roo, all good, gotv, 10klf, etc... which is where its happening. and just to raise the point. umphreys had nearly as many shows as mmj had in the whole of 2006 before the time roo rolled around. and was close to doubling them for the whole year. phantasytour.com/um/shows.cgi?year=2006
Sorry Dude, but I just have to point out that there's a good reason MMJ didn't play a lot in early 2006... Jim James (lead singer, guitarist, all around good guy) spent a good portion of that time in the hospital recovering from a pretty serious bout of (rockin') pneumonia.
I love MMJ, but I don't see them as Roo headliners, even if the days of keeping them to myself are long gone. I personally don't like UM - I shouldn't say that too loudly - and because of that, I don't see them headlining either.
As for who will be headlining Roo in a dozen years? I'm sure it's going to be bands you've never heard of today. For all we know The Fray will become more experimental and turn their backs on their one-hit-wonder selves (Radiohead, anyone?). OK, that's doubtful, but you get the point.

Keith, man, thing is, you're freaking out over nothing. Moby will not be there, Blue Man Group are too busy doing shows in Vegas, Hootie disappeared ages ago, and Jimmy Buffet is too busy being wasted away again in Margaritaville looking for his lost/dead career. Hipsters aren't taking over. There's plenty of room for hipsters and hippies on the Bonnaroo farm. Everyone will get what they want. The Dead and The Decemberists will live in harmony, promise.
Thinking an act should headline doesn't make you a "fanboy" -- it means that you are making a judgement. I think that if Clapton plays Bonnaroo, he should headline. I am not a fan of Clapton and I don't automatically dismiss people who like him or think that he should play.
By the way, in what world does liking Hootie and the Blowfish or Moby pigeonhole you as a hipster?
Dude, I'm sure that you mean well and are just trying to protect what you see as the essence of Roo but trying to be a bit less dismissive of others wouldn't be the worst thing in the world and would help to keep this place a bit more harmoneous.
im not "freeking out" just posting to them with the same amount of respect that they post to me. not only is it the same discussion as last year. its with the same fool. but im just bored and havin fun. if its annoying anyone outside of rooskew and bburton ill quit. and i see that it is. anyways im done with it.

I think you should get over the dead and look around at some other bands. Yeah, i was the one who suggested hootie and the blowfish, i think it'd be a good show. I also suggested hydra and c2b3. I'm sorry that everyone else enjoys more then one type of music, unlike you. Why dont you just chill out and accept that other people enjoy other things, and bonnaroo decided to go in that direction last year without anyone having these type of suggestions. I personally much rather see tvotr there instead of the dead. Does that mean everyone else does, no, but im sure theres a lot who agree. Also, i bet if you posted a poll to see who thinks Pearl Jam should headline if they played, im guessing a majority would say yes. Bonnaroo isnt allgood, maybe your on the wrong message board. I hate to add to the fire, but dudewheresmyroo is pretty much trolling and the sole instigator here, something this board didnt use to have.
Guys, lets keep the peace, please! If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all...thats is what my mom always told me I am going to lock this thread up, because I can see things getting uglier.
