Is anyone else surprised, perplexed, and trying not to get too excited, by the Tenacious D tour announcement in the most recent Bonnaroo email? Could it be that The Greatest Band on Earth might end up blessing us with an appearance in '07? I admit it's a fairly large leap in reason to make, but tell me you didn't already make it in your own mind even before I said it.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

i would absolutley love to see the d at roo, maybe with the spot dr.john had last year, i'd be kinda dissapointed if they headlined thoguh. i think there should eb a ltenight comedy tent, and weird al and the d should play on it, with maybe stephen lynch or soem other funny guys or band

Tenacious D has exploded too much to be confined to a tent. But I agree that they wouldn't fit for a headlinging spot (not that huge, yet). I see them in the late night 2nd stage spot, or perhaps as a main stage lead up to a headliner... perhaps for Tool? See, it's all falling together! But any D anywhere at Bonnaroo would be an amazing experience. I'd love to see some of the gags they come up with for this kind of fest, like in the vein of Beck's "hippie" video. Ah, this would be so close to perfect, I can't see how Superfly, in their right minds, wouldn't get them for next year!
i love em but they arent late night roo material. imo. i see them as part of the annual saturday traffic jam. or some ohter daytime slot. id really want to see them but if they are a latenight im pretty sure that something else would draw my attention.

Agreed, and well put, because god know that is exactly what Saturday is. But I do have to say, this is looking like the D are a sure thing....and that is gonna make a LOT of peeps happy....me for one.

Now hold up. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I don't think this is a sure thing. One thing I've learned is that, for better or worse, you can never predict what Superfly is gonna do. It's very strange indeed that they would announce the tour schedule of a band that has no apparent connection to any of their festivals, past, present or future. And I'll gladly get my hopes up about this one, but I'd never call anything a sure thing until Superfly officially announces it. But that's me.
