March 2006 -- John will be playing with Phil Lesh and Friends again this May (two shows in San Francisco) and also in June for more, beginning at Bonnaroo
unfortunately, the superjam takes place in a tent, the hour before the last headliner takes the stage. As of yet, the only person we've seen grace the superjam and the mainstage in the same night was Herbie H A N C O C K, but he only sat in with Panic for a few tunes.

Personally, I'm hoping that Scofield plays with Medeski Martin & Wood. I guess the four have just recorded another album together - which I bet will be as awesome as their album A Go Gois.
Personnally I'm hoping Scofield isn't an official announcement. I've never been a big fan. I think he would be a great addition to Phil and friends and maybe even the super jam, but I don't want to waste an announcement on him. I have never been a fan of his solo stuff. It's kinda like wasting an addition on Common. I've seen Common live. I was not impressed. This is just my personal opinion. Now everyone can start crushing it. Maybe I am just a hater. But like I said in another thread, after this long wait there better be a monster announcement. For me Scofield isn't it.

i couldn't agree more! this is great news.
by the way, sonic youth was much more exciting to me than common for sure.
well from the sound of it he is with phil... and if they announce him it will jyst be another show i dont have to worry about fitting in...but i think he will be great with phil... and he probably will come out with mmw or some others if he dosent have his own set.... i agree with the common statement... i just dont think he fits in well... but oh well again its jsut another show i wont have to worry about..ill get my hip hop fix from lyrics born and blackalicious any way...
Scofield's tour following the Bump album was one of the best shows I've ever seen (Derek Trucks opened). I have a hard time imagining a fan of MMW or Soulive not enjoying his stuff from that period. I know he's done some more "traditional jazz" type stuff since then and I have no idea what he's up to now, but he would be pretty high on my list if announced solo and him playing with Phil makes that show way more exciting for me. I wanna see him sit in with Frissel.
Only time i ever saw scoffield live was the xmas jam this year and he kicked some tail. Him and Warren together equals bliss. It will be great to see hiim with Phil Lesh. I have heard alot of his newer stuff and older stuff, its alot different, but, would be good to see him get his own set as well.
Scofield's cool, the man has played with Miles Davis; how many people who've done that are still alive, much less making music? However, I hope this isn't the "big" name we're waiting to drop. Irregardless, he'll rock with Phil
