Has anybody seen this rumor about Oysterhead reuniting for Bonnaroo 2006? Justin over at www.livemusicblog.com/ just posted something. Considering the recent announcement about Bisco and Umphrey's, maybe this is really true. I can hardly believe it though. It really sounds too good to be true.
The Magic Numbers are playing on Saturday.(http://www.themagicnumbers.net/)
Thanks ElementGuy, I've been checking their site (one of my favorite new discoveries since the lineup announcement) but I wasn't catching the date because the chronology is kind of confusing (not chronological) on their tour page.
I can't believe no one else is talking about this, but The day tix went on sale for about 18 hours on wikipedia's website, they listed "Artist Additions Round 3" as having taken place on February 11th (that same day). It listed The Flaming Lips, The Arcade Fire, and Wilco. It was there, plain as day, in the same format that the other artist additions were listed. I flipped shit and went to bonnaroo's website, but having been there earlier while buying my ticket, i knew there was no such information on their page. The next day wikipedia removed the announcement. Misprint or good news broken too quickly? (Obviously bonnaroo wouldn't want to drop another bomb like that on us until a few weeks after the oysterhead announcement.
Also, some guy on another thread posted that Talking Heads would be the next announcement, but i think he was drunk . . .

The thing you have to remember that Wikipedia is an urban dictionary. Though there are facts in it, anyone can edit information at will. I did see the 3rd round addition and raced to the roo site to see if it was true, which it wasn't. I thought that was uncool, so I took it upon myself to erase it. I have an idea who the person was that posted that, and it basically comes down to someones wishlist.Until the news comes out of the horses mouth, I wouldn't take it as true.
Flaming Lips, Wilco, and the Talking Heads... i say no way in hell to any of them... but if any of the two get signed up my regular tickets will get pawned off and i'm tucking myself in nice and comfy in VIP

To inject some optimism into the discussion, I think both Wilco and the Flaming Lips are very serious possibilities. Both have new albums coming out (both are playing Langerado already) and both have played the Roo before. I think that these bands would make excellent additions to the already strong lineup, here's hoping it happens.
I'm not sure whether the Arcade Fire is releasing new material this summer or not, but I will say that I'm gonna go nuts if all three ARE added.
Now, there are a few rumors going down right now. One that I keep hearing the most is SCI, but there are others as well. I am not saying Wilco or Falming lips would be unreasonal to expect, but the fact that they haven't been offically announced.
Getring back to the whole Wikipedia thing, I am not sure if anyone else sa it the day before bands were announced, but someone posted Coheed and Cambria to be playing. I looked at that and laughed out loud and ignored it. I wasn't going to waste my time reporting that and I think that would have opened up another can of worms if I did. Anyways, the moral of the story is don't believe everything you see on Wikipedia.
I'm well aware of the lack of credibility wikipedia has (no professor this side of the mason-dixon line will accept it as a source). But the reason I took stock in it was that i've heard some semi-strong rumors about all three of those bands. The Flaming Lips and Arcacde Fire have appeared as rumors in numerous blogs and message boards. I have also head buzz about SCI, which would be amazing. I'm saddened by a lack of Keller rumors, of how nice a Keller Incident show would be . . . Regradless, I saw SCI a few years ago, they were touring with, who else? The Flaming Lips. It was a really good show and I'd like to see it again.

Here is a stupid fact I am not sure anyone picked up on, Every Bonnaroo has had at least 2-3 acts from SCI label. As of right now there is only one, and that was Umphrey's with the first addition. So there is some hope for those hoping for some Cheese,Keller, STS9, Spearhead and others off of their label.

ive been hearing a ton of rumors about SCI being added which would be amazing..... but yeah what is up with keller ive heard nothing about him being added im praying he will be added as well.... plus he just came up with a new album.... keep our fingers crossed
I'm listening ti the Flaming Lips 03 set. I was there and I'm sure anyone else that was there on here will agree with me that it was epic...one of my fav sets ever. The energy in that tent was electric. The massive sing along of happy birthday must have been heard for miles.
i heard that lyrics born will be coming this year. and i also heard that J5 will be returning. anyone else heard anything about this?
Where'd you hear that? LB is number 2 on my wishlist (especially if he's with Joyo Velarde and DJ D-Sharp), right behind Aesop Rock. I've been calling for LB for two years now and his Vegoose appearance really gave me hope. So far their tour page only goes through March. I'm very interested to see that Pigeon John is playing in Richmond Virginia on the 16th of June, seems easy enough to head through Manchester on the way home. I'm still sticking to my belief that Superfly knows how well late night hip-hop went last year and will be having some every year, but don't know of anything solid besides Atmosphere so far.
So who does everyone think the late night sets are going to be? If there are three tents/stages going on both Friday night and Saturday night, then there should be about ten to fifteen late night sets. We know that Umphrees/Biscuits will be one night, I figure Sasha will be during the night, and we are pretty sure that Beck will be doing a late night set. That leaves us with a whole lot of time to fill. Is Oysterhead going to play a late night set? Dresden Dolls will probably play one too. Maybe Moe, Maybe Atmosphere? Any other suggestions?

Oysterhead for sure will play at night, I would not be surprised to see Umps and then Disco Biscuite one right after the other on friday night or saturday. I think moe is always better at night but that won't happen. Robert Randolp may get his late night set on Saturday as well. Of course their is usally some hip hop and D.J also going on at night.
Thanks for all the finds ElementGuy! I also added Devotchka and moved the Wood Brothers to Thursday (damn I am going to miss so much Thursday night )
We've got 38 bands on there so far, not bad.
As far as late night goes, we only know Umphreys/Biscuits for sure. Oysterhead seems like a no brainer for the 2nd stage late night. The mention of "the night of the 17th" by Beck could be late night, but it could also mean a 6:00 set I guess. I'm still praying for my late night hip-hop. I would love to see moe. back where they belong (on the opposite night of Umphreys and Disco Biscuits). Although I'm not sure if they would have a big enough draw, I think Dungen would be a perfect late night set as well. I would say we have something closer to 10 acts in store including DJs.
I was actually thinking that too, LIGuy, but given how high both are billed, I certainly hope they wouldn't schedule them opposite each other. This makes me think that if Oysterhead is late night (again, I can't picture them anywhere else but in a headlining spot, and I feel pretty certain the three headliners are Radiohead, Petty and Phil), then they are likely to be on Friday night (Radiohead --> Oysterhead? I wouldn't have any energy left for the weekend). So I'm thinking of four possible late night tents right now: Umphreys/Biscuits (confirmed late night) Oysterhead (speculation) Beck (speculation) Some form of a hip-hop tent (pure hope)
If that were the case, then I would expect the two "jammier" options to be on opposite nights and the two less "jammier" options on opposite nights. If we assume Oysterhead and Beck aren't conflicting that would leave
Oysterhead & Hip Hop Friday Beck and Umphreys/Biscuits Saturday
For some reason I have a sense that Oysterhead will be Saturday and Umphreys/Biscuits will be Friday, so some piece of this puzzle is probably wrong (Beck or Oysterhead not late night)
Yeah, I see the promoters having someone on the 2nd stage both Friday and Saturday night this year. I just hope they put up a screen this year! Sometimes you can't get close enough to see anything from afar.

Consider this. If they do add the Flaming Lips (which is looking more and more likely all the time), I think they would have a hard time not putting them into a late night set. How do they fit in to the mix?
I hate to say it, but some fantastic acts are going to have to be scheduled against one another this year. The quality of the lineup demands it. With that said, I noticed that Langerado is scheduling acts against their headliners this year. Any thought that Bonnaroo might try this for all the kids who don't want to see Radiohead? I say, go right ahead, more room for me closer to the stage for Thom and Jonny et al.
