I've been planning to get one of those watches from Walmart too! Haven't actually grabbed one yet, but it occurred to me that I need one because there's no way my phone will manage to stay charged for very long and I don't want to be clueless about what time it is and what's going on if my phone dies.
Damn I wish I knew about the $2 ones. I bought one at Target for around $10. I hate wearing watches but also hate carrying my phone so I'm sucking it up.
I've been thinking about getting one, but haven't yet. I may just have to.. Where are the rubber band watches? And are they water resistant? And I got myself another pair of shoes. Earth shoe sandals were on sale at walmart. I grabbed a pair with a sole like a tennis shoe, and the straps won't get too tight when my feet swell like my chacos. These are leather though, so I'm not sure how they will do in rain, but I've still got my crocs, $12 tennis shoes from old navy, and boots.. So between them all I think I'm covered.

The watches I was planning on getting are actually in the toy department of Walmart. I'm assuming they're the same ones amanduh was talking about. They actually had two different styles, one was a thin, round band and the other was a wider, flat band IIRC. And they were both $2 or $3, not sure which. I think they oughta be just fine for Roo, who knows how long they'll last after that but I would imagine they could survive the weekend just fine.

That kind of sounds like the one I picked up... I didn't think to look in the toy department.. I found these on an end cap in the jewelry department. They have all kinds of different colors and come in a test tube looking thing. I have no idea if they are water proof.. I bet not but for $2 I don't really mind if it craps the bed.
I got a clip on watch from the Dollar Tree for my Camelbak. I also got a cool clip on light. It's like a circle reflector.. it blinks fast, slow, or a solid light.
I've been wearing all my roo clothes this week to make sure there are no seams or anything that bug me when I walk. Getting SO excited!!

I'll be sporting the green one of thoses LED lights! I love the Dollar Tree. I need to hit it up this weekend for what seems like the 100th time!
I'm still not happy with my roo wardobe yet. I'm kinda hippy (not the cool kind of hippie!) so dresses sometimes fall funny on me. I've been sporting tank tops & skirts this week with the high, high temps, and I feel really comfortable in those. I'm going to make one more trip to Ross & Old Navy tomorrow to hopefully find something that will work for me. Wish me luck!
How do yall plan on wearing your hair? During the day I plan on wearing a hat almost exclusively.. my skin is very sun sensative and if I'm not carefull I'll be a lobster before the weekend is over. So I basically have two options.. low messy bun or a side braid. But at night I'd like to wear it down (if it's not TOO hot) and look at least some what presentable and with both of those style my hair gets crazy fro'y. I'll probably just have to wet it and let it air dry...
Last year I saw all these girls with their perfectly placed hair and make-up and looking like superstars and I kept thinking "HOW DO THEY DO IT?!". Am I missing something?
That reminds me! I found this easy hairstyle guide, and it leads to another article with more styles. There are a lot of cool up dos that look hard but are super easy. I've tried a few and they are pretty great. www.totalbeauty.com/content/gallery/p_17_styles?cid=2283
I bring bathing suit tops to all festivals, screw the bras and I have a C you can bring 2 types; like the ones that tie behind your neck and the ones that are strapless or you can do the sports bra style ones if you want to alternate.
Skirts and dresses are good with a pair of bike shorts underneath the advantage is that they absorb any moisture and dry it off a lot quicker then cotton boxers!
Also for shoes is you can find Earth Spirit sandals I find they are just as comfortable as Birkenstock's and cheaper too. I have to admit I've never tried crocks and the more I read the more I want a pair!
I know what you mean! One year I saw a couple girls with blown-out hair, full makeup, high, high heels and mini skirts and couldn't imagine how they managed to walk 5 minutes in those outfits. I might be able to leave camp unsweaty, but by the time I get half a block away, I'm swabbing at my face with my extra bandana.
I let my hair air dry after washing in the troughs and while I have pretty long hair, it doesn't bother me so I wear it down because then it protects my neck. I add a bandana or scarf to protect my scalp (and add some color) and sometimes will add a hat on top of all of that. I never look like a superstar, but I think a scarf/hat hides a lot.
I think a low messy bun or a side braid both sound like great options!
Got one of the $2 watches at walmart today... The thin pink one (I wanted green or purple, but pink and orange were all they had left.
As for hair, I'm using the SS dash travel flat iron to help along whatever style I choose to wear. I like to wear it down for sun protection, so we will see. As for girls who look perfect there I'm guessing that they probably aren't there for the music really.. Like they probably spend a good portion of the day either at their hotel or air-conditioned rv or maybe even in the hair salon. If I were a guy I'd be turned off by that much effort and consider them posers. I know we all talk fashion here, but at least to me it is to share comfort tips, bargains, crafty creativity and frugality and just because it's fun for me.. Not because I'm concerned about perfection. Screw perfection.. This is bonnaroo. Haha.
I also picked up a new shirt and a pair of shorts in case I want to go the shorts route (and because I only have one other pair of shorts and San Antonio is HOT.. And the shirt is useful since after working in construction so long, my wardrobe has been neglected.) I modeled the $8 shirt from walmart, $12 shorts that I made shorter and turned into cutoffs from walmart, my new earth spirit sandals I purchased last night on sale, and the $2 itty bitty watch you can barely see. There were lots of cute breezy tops at walmart today and I so wanted to buy them all, but I thought this one screamed music featival.

Wow! These are great! I'm wearing the "knotty and nice" hairstyle right now. Hopefully these will translate into some good bonnaroo styles.

That whole outfit is adorable! I love Wal*Mart so much.. I'm a Cheapy McCheaperson.

I tend to end up in braided pigtails a lot at Roo - often with a bandana because otherwise my scalp burns where my hair is parted. My hair tangles really easily and it's SUCH a pain to comb the tangles out if I don't have conditioner...so when I'm not showering and conditioning my hair, it's always best to try to keep it from getting tangly in the first place. So leaving it down isn't really an option for me.
Hello all Seriously can't even wait for Roo!!!! I'm on lots of other festie forums and really glad I finally joined Inforoo! Anyways, I make dread beads and jewelry and thought I'd post a link to my Etsy shop-- every purchase goes toward seeing live music ROOOOOOOO!!!!
This is kind of off subject but.. I texted a picture of my 'Roo supplies list to my guy friend that I'm going with this year and he replied with "how much shit do you need?".
I am by no means overpacking.. if anything I might be under prepared compared to last year. I realize that we're going to be "roughing" it for a few days but there's no reason to be more uncomfortable than I HAVE to be. He even made fun of me for listing a tent fan... he's been to Bonnaroo a couple of times so he knows how hot it can be. While at camp that tent fan saved my life, it felt SO good when the sun was blazin and even pointed directly on me while I slept.
I asked him what he planned on bringing and he said "clothes, baby wipes, a couple pairs of shoes, food, and beer" I told him to rethink that list or he's going to be miserable!

Maybe he's just planning on benefitting from your good planning... Seriously, I'm a real comfort camper but I'd rather have too much stuff than be missing something and have to buy it on site, or suffer. If you're backpacking and need to go minimalist that's different, but this is car camping... why not be comfy/be able to sleep/be healthy!
ETA: This reminds me of the OPPOSITE argument I had with my mom (who's a classic overpacker) when she was up visiting last week and I showed her my Roo corner. We had a 20 minute argument about why I didn't actually need a SNAKE BITE KIT for Bonnaroo!! I was like... if there's a snake that's not terrified of 80k people... I'm pretty sure I'm only going to see it on the SyFy network

How I do my hair depends on what it looks like when I wake up. I'm blessed with great hair, so I don't have to worry about frizz or anything. I usually just leave it down...if I put it in a bun before I go to sleep I wake up with waves, so that's always a good option for me. I keep a few small braids in all the time to add a bit of variety.
When it gets really hot and farther into the weekend I really could care less about my hair, so a french braid and a low bun is always a good fall back. I also have been known to throw it in a ridiculously high messy bun and wrap a scarf around turban style. Or braids and a hat. I change my hair like 5 times a day, so most likely it will be all of the above sometime throughout the weekend.
And I am one of those girls with full makeup...primers and setting spray help keep mine on for a decent amount of time. I just feel weird without it...plus, I was in a bike accident a few months ago and still have some weird red marks from the carnage that I prefer to cover up.
I started a blog to collect all my thoughts on Bonnaroo and when I did my Roo Basics post, I ended up with a list a mile long. Being minimal on the farm is FAR different from being minimal on other vacations.
