Didn’t have a problem with Brits here in 2022, nor at any concerts I went to when I lived in London. You can be from any country and be annoying. They do tend to smoke cigs a bit freely, if that gets on your nerves, but that seems like a lot of Euro fests.
I like a lot of the lineup, but if you live in a major city, you’ve had a chance to see 95% of this in the last 6/next 6 months.
I don’t really think this is anything different about this primavera. Maybe the deep undercard is missing 1 or 2 of the super rare sets, or bands that haven’t gotten big enough to even do NYC yet, but it’s not like the mid and upper card isn’t typically packed with artists that’ll hit the big markets while touring. Appeal of primavera to me at least is the amount of acts they book that’ll do US tours hitting only NYC, Chicago, LA, and maybe a couple more cities. Way cheaper to fly to Barcelona once than constantly go back and forth across the US.

Just noticed Frost Children on the bill. I'd never heard of them until they opened for fellow St. Louisians Gravity Kills for their reunion show last fall. I was pretty into it. They're not easy to pin down genre-wise, but I'd imagine fans of the also from St. Louis 100 Gecs would enjoy them.

...I think I'm going to do this.
Edit: I bought tickets for me and my brother. This and Glastonbury have been the international festivals that I've been staring at for a decade, lets gooooo...
I know there's a lot to dig into on the line-up but Caribou, Jamie XX and DJ Koze in 2024 are almost enough for me by themselves. Sturgill Simpson and LCD don't hurt either. Can't wait to dig in deeper.

This is a similar thing to what pushed me over the edge. The lineups have always been good, and I finally realized it could actually do it financially.

As a newbie, can someone give me a run down on the day before and the day after the festival. How do those work for someone with a normal 3 day ticket?

The pre-party is free to everyone. It’s a nice way to kick off the weekend. You get a chance to check out the area (some of it anyways as they’re more than likely finishing up), see some bands, drink cervesas, and prepare your body for the best three days of your life. It’s night time but I forget the actual hours when they usually start.
The times I’ve gone, I haven’t stuck around for the closing party but did do a Ciutat show later one Sunday night. It was nice to sleep in, grab brunch and head to the show. Definitely worth factoring in when figuring travel dates, imo.
Oh and if you didn’t know there’s a series of Ciutat (City) shows in the days that lead up to it. It’s paid reservations (like $10 a show) and a great way to see bands that’ll free up some slots for you when the schedule drops.
Definitely spend a week in Barcalona while you’re there. It’s absolutely worth it.

Thanks so much! That's exactly it, I'm trying to figure out how long to make the trip and where to cut the week off. Maybe Tuesday to Tuesday? One day to get acclimated, then the pre-party, then the main event, then two-ish days to wind down before returning to real life? I'd like to get this figured out by Thanksgiving so I can start looking at hotels.
I'm already excited. Been to Europe twice before. Got one Chemical Brothers show at Alexandra Palace, but this is next level obviously. I am going to hate to see Coachella and Bonnaroo release their line-ups but...Primavera will be its own beast.

I think the City shows start on Monday and run through Sunday minus the dates of the main event. It’s obviously not mandatory just nice to do at night. They’ll announce those later. It’s usually a mix of bands that are playing the festival and ones that aren’t.
Also worth noting this festival runs on Spanish time where it’s like 4pm to Sunrise. Something to keep in mind if you’re thinking of flying back on Sunday.
If you’re thinking Tuesday to Tuesday, that would be my choice.

Our time in Barcelona is going to be Tuesday to Tuesday following a lot of this logic. Felt it gave enough time for the festival and a couple days on either side.
Edit: Technically, we're likely flying out Monday evening, but we'll get to Spain Tuesday.

Exactly what the wife and I did the laat two years and had a blast
You need a reservation ticket (10e) for each venue that has shows Monday-Wednesday except for Parc del Forum with the pre-party, which runs a free reservation ticket. Keep in mind that Primavera sometimes announces a kinda big show for the Wednesday too (The National last year, Bon Iver a few years ago) and it will likely clash with something else but by the time they announce it you'll be used to it after checking the schedule hundreds of times.
I always get there on Thursday except two years ago to catch that Darkside show at Apolo and it was amazing. If you're already planning to spend several days in Barcelona I'd consider getting there on Monday and leaving the following Monday if you can.
I saw Chat Pile last night. Great show. Those guys are also just obviously having a blast on stage. They're gonna thrive in front of a big crowd.
what movies did he talk about
Saw them in Columbia, Missouri. So he worked Adam Wingard, going hard on "You're Next." Not sure if this was a bit, but the claim was also made that Luther's dad once worked at a nearby military academy where "Child's Play 3" was shot. Also showed some love for the also shot in Columbia "Sometimes They Come Back."
