We are looking are doing a few days on either side of the festival to explore the city. With it being the 5th-7th for the festival, what would you all do? I cannot remember what days it is cheaper to fly in and out on. I felt like coming in Tuesday the 3rd might be the best if F1 is in the city the weekend before and backloading exploration until after the festival.
definitely spend time in the city before the festival
I wanted to do a little of both. I feel like F1 weekend is going to be pretty busy, but we'll be fresh off the plane. Time after may be a little less crowded, but we'll be post festival. We're probably not doing any Ciutat shows since one member of the party won't be eighteen, so we may be less tired than otherwise.
Recommendations on timing for booking flights and lodging? Feel like six months is the standard for international flights, but I haven't looked in a while. garageland told me to lean to hotels bc Airbnb listings have a way of cancelling in the search of a bigger payday.

We did Tuesday to Tuesday both times (flying out Monday). So like a day and a half before the fest and two days after. Not enough time to see everything, but three solid days to do city stuff and then would usually do lunches or beach days before the fest. Only thing to consider is you'll usually be up til 4a-6a each night and sleeping in, so depending on how you run on little sleep, the actual fest days may just be fest days, also pending where you stay, etc. We were fine doing days after the fest (versus before) but again really depends on how well you take care of yourself and sleep.
Looks like they’ve swapped Dice for a new ticketing app, never heard of Fever
Fever is kinda weird but might be useful for tourists, honestly. It’s like a cross between Dice and Viator where it offers concerts/festivals as well as bookings to big attractions. Dunno how it’s priced for that but I like the idea.
Did VIP go up a lot? I feel like I paid less than 300€ and didn’t get much.

It's 400€+fees for 2024 ticket holders and 450 for non. I think I paid 1150 US (1070 Euros) in 2022 for both weekends.
Not busting out Excel and plugging in all the exchange rates, but it seems roughly the same price, maybe a bit cheaper, for a much-less desirable VIP experience than 2022. Not even sure that whether the experience measures up is up for debate.
Don't get VIP (unless perks change). The fest is a VIP experience and the benefit of the more expensive ticket isn't there currently.

Oh, absolutely. It was a clusterfuck last year. The viewing was always at capacity and they wouldn’t let me up to even by beer. In Madrid they didn’t give us goodies or anything.
Until I start hearing better about it, I’d never tell people to go that route.

2022 was great because the mainstage front-of-soundbooth pen was awesome and the bridge over to Bits was clutch. Now there's no Bits and the VIP at main is off to the sides. Both were changes they were probably forced to make for one reason or another but yeah that's gone.

Did some looking at hotels today. Any areas to stay away from? Looks like it's pretty heavily booked near the festival, so I am guessing more Central or West of the city near mass transit.

people say raval is a bit dicey. I stayed near Diagonal this year and I loved it. It is all pretty easy to get to the fest unless you stay on the west side of the city

You'll surely find something better but for me the BTB in Viladecans was great my first year going. It's near the airport and there's commuter rail into the city across the street from the lobby.

Yeah Raval is bad. If you're asking where to stay away from just avoid that and Rambla. I never worried about crime at the hotel we stayed at in Poblenou/near the beach, even late at night.
I kind of don't worry about crime in Barcelona in general. Oh no, someone might have a knife.
off the l3 line around gracia/girona stops is loaded with solid hotels. if im back this year i might try to stay in the neighborhood nw of the forum along the l1 line, stayed there for a night last year and i loved it. Many hotels haven't opened up booking btw

Yeah, I had been thinking not everything is available yet. Started thinking about hotels today with the resale tomorrow. Just wanting to get some parameters in mind in case some great deal pops up when I happen to check.
no idea if its available but i really liked hotel hcc taber
wait were you there this year? They put me in the top floor with a massive patio and view of the city. Couldn't recommend more
not this year but when i went in 2022 i had that as a single room. not a huge patio but it was amazing as a solo traveler to have a glass of wine and beautiful view of the city after getting back
Has anyone encountered any issues buying tickets this year? Seeing lots of complaints on the discord
I had a pain in the ass buying them because my bank hit it with the fraud alert. When I called them to green light it, they said I should be able to buy them no problem in a few minutes. In reality, it was about three and a half hours later after a couple additional attempts got declined.

I paid $503 all-in for VIP in 2018 so it's pretty impressive that their prices are basically flat or maybe even went down?
Did they gut VIP since then? I remember it being a pretty good experience and I still have my Primavera tote bag that I use as my man purse. But yeah the pit was full a couple times.
