TAB into Bruce on the main stage makes no sense. You'd think they'd spread them out for crowd control - plus Park seems like a better fit for TAB.
feels like they're banking on splitting up the jersey boys and having a lot of people going over to gaslight anthem
There is like zero percent chance of this happening. TGA got done super dirty - anyone who's there to see Springsteen (and I'm guessing that'll be the prime thing for most Sunday attendees) is not going to bounce back and forth to the Park stage right before his set.

i also don't know shit about this festival, so i'm inclined to believe this. bummer

Yeah. I mean, it's not that far a walk from Park to Surf as the crow flies, but there are only so many staircase to get from the boardwalk to the beach and both they and the walkways get fairly clogged, so it can take some time, especially as the day goes on and the bigger acts start playing.
I dunno. My hunch is that a LOT of people are going to just camp the main stage all day for Bruce and that, if anyone wants a semi-decent spot for that show, it's going to take staking it out pretty early.
I’ll be there. First time since 2021. Actually got tix off the waiting list after not getting through initially (but joined the waitlist a few minutes after it sold out).

Incredible Bruce setlist tonight - congrats anyone there
Thundercrack (!!), Does this bus stop..., Blinded, 4th of July (of course...), Meeting into Jungleland, Jersey Girl (also of course...), 7 of the first 9 songs before 1974 - just awesome

That setlist was bonkers. I hope those who went can appreciate how rare that set was. Seen him 15 or 16x w the band and solo and have never heard those songs. I am kinda surprised he dug up some of those for a festival crowd but then again, it's Asbury Park and Sandy was a given and Jersey Girl strong possibility

Alright. I was sort of nervous going into this thing due to the well publicized negatives about it in the past (crowds, sound, getting onto the beach, blanket and towel gang, etc.) especially with my wife being there who is decidedly not a festival person and also didn't know about said negatives, so it was a gamble of sorts. Bruce in AP was worth the roll of the dice though and oh baby did we come up big.
Got to AP about noon on a beautiful day and got into catch Bertha, which was a lot of fun. Fun new spin on the Dead cover band genre and their backstory about a charity performance in Nashville for the TN drag laws leading to them touring was neat. Doing drums and space during a 45-minute festival set is pretty funny, as was introducing all of them as Bertha. Joy Oladokun and Eggy followed, both of whom we took in while wandering around the festival and exploring before it got too crowded. Very very cool setting overall, good food options, the Danny Clinch tent was neat, but I was still wary of how it'd get when things filled in.
Sat on the beach and listened to Kool & The Gang from way back, who were an easy entry into the "I had no idea I'd know the vast majority of this setlist" festival category. Bronson was next and I had been wanting to catch a live band set from him for a while and it was a very fun time. I said earlier in this thread that Bronson opening for Bruce on the beach was all I needed and it really was. I assume there is going to be a line about him playing the beach with Bruce on a future album of his. After that, we started making our move to post up for TAB and plant ourselves for Bruce, which I thought was when the going might get a little tough and it just... didn't. Once we got past where the no blanket/towel zone started, there was still plenty of room especially up the right side near the water. We parked in line with the first speaker tower for TAB - fun set, obvious highlight was Bruce coming out for Kitty's Back - and held there until Bruce's set. Was even relatively easy making a bathroom/beer run between the sets which was a very pleasant surprise. It got pretty packed in by the last 15 min or so before Bruce started but nothing terrible.
Bruce's set for me as a lifelong fan of his was everything I could have wanted. I saw one show last year with the usual structure over the last couple years and it was great, but oh man was this setlist incredible. The early stuff! Jungleland! Pulling out Local Hero and Sandy! Highlights overall were Jungleland and Racing in the Street, both of which I had never heard live before and are top 10 Bruce songs for me. The setting was absolutely perfect, hearing the waves crash next to us as we watched Bruce rip through these songs where he came up. My wife had never seen a Bruce show and getting to share that with her was pretty special for me. You guys know when you're at a show and something will happen and you think to yourself "I am going to remember this for the rest of my life"? I figure all of us know that if that happens at a show once a year, it's pretty good. It happened to me probably 5 or 6 times alone last night. What a time.
Shoutout to C3 for hearing the feedback on the sound, the screens, the blankets and towels, the entrances to the beach, and more and actually acting on it. I'm sure there are people with something to bitch about today but our strategy for the day worked great and all 4 of us walking out agreed we'd absolutely go back if the lineup was right. This was my one and only festival day for 2024 and it delivered. I'm paying for it today at work but who cares.

What did they do to address this? It was my biggest gripe the years I went. Did they add more stairways? Widen the stairways they had? Something else?

I'm honestly not positive. They said on IG (or somewhere) that they were adding more stairways this time around but I don't know how many they did nor how many there were in the past. I think there were 4-5 this year and it was not an issue at any point for us.

Welp, onto 2025. Anyone have any more info on the contract? I forget if it renewed this year or if it needs to be renewed with the city for 2025. If it’s the latter, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they just retired it, but I doubt they would.
Neil Young, Rolling Stones, Post Malone, Metallica, RHCP, Alanis, and Eddie Vedder would all be in my book for headliners.
