hate to post something negative during the pre-roo celebrations but there is a pretty strong chance i won't make it to roo this year. short version is my father-in-law has been in poor health since having a stroke a year ago. he's been living somewhat independently with a lot of assistance from my wife, but last week he fell and ended up in the hospital. i was in vegas for work and flew home early. in the hospital he started having seizures, and the doctors induced a coma to stop the seizures. they tried to wake him up yesterday and he was still having seizures, they are going to try again today.
i don't know what is going to happen, but unless he wakes up in the next couple days and everything is OK i can't leave my wife to deal with all this alone.
i'm upset and angry. not angry at my father-in-law, he didn't choose this, just angry at the whole situation. i'm not upset at missing the music at bonnaroo, i'm upset because this is my one opportunity each year to see all of y'all. we joke but bonnaroo really is just the friends i made along the way.
if i don't make it to roo please make the ferris wheel meetup happen and punch an inforoo'er as hard as you can for me. actually don't really hit anybody but please do meetup at the ferris wheel because it will be funny.
I’m very sorry to hear this. Just let me know who you want me to pee on at the Ferris wheel, and you can consider it done.
21 genitals piss salute from atop the Ferris wheel ?

You’re absolutely making the right choice for what’s good for your wife. If I were in your shoes, I couldn’t imagine doing it different way. It sucks but you’re looking past a music festival and thinking of what Mrs. Postjack needs and that’s what’s important.
That said, it’s a shitty situation and I’ll be keeping you guys in my thoughts.
Bleachers in what field Clock tower moved to new location Might wanna move meetup/fight spot Well actually there will be more room to fight by ferris wheel so maybe leave it there
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
It's been a weird Roo season for me - I was super excited for the lineup drop after hearing that Fred was headlining and deciding to buy presale blind. Then the lineup dropped and almost all the wind left my sails. Sunday might be the best they've had since I've started going (usually there's one, MAYBE two bands I'm excited for on Sunday - this year my top four acts are all playing that day), but the other days left a lot to be desired. There's still a lot of fun to be had and PL will be sick, but otherwise there were a lot of "yeah I'll probably enjoy this" acts and Millenial-core acts like T-Pain and Sean Paul that I'd have fun at but are still pretty fillery for me. Combined with the fact that damn near none of the people I usually camp with were going, and I was now looking at three days of so-so music, mostly solo for a lot of it, and came close to just not going at all several times. That's a lot of time, money (rather tight for me rn), and effort for a day of music. Then I pivoted and decided to sell my ticket volunteer - it'd take care of the cost of the ticket, I'd get to meet new people, and I'd have something to do when the music I'm not that into was playing. Well...surprise surprise Bonnaroo's volunteer effort kinda sucks. They told us we'd get free showers and took that away last minute, and we still haven't even gotten schedules yet. As of yesterday I was fully prepared to just not go and enjoy a relaxing week off work instead of the gruel of Bonnaroo. I told myself I'd give myself one last night to sleep on it before making the decision.
Woke up and realized I'd be so much happier just doing a single day ticket. Moved things around and now I'm flying into Nashville Saturday night, Rooing Sunday, coming back Monday. And I'm absolutely geeked about it. I'm excited about Bonnaroo for the first time this year - like, REALLY really excited. I had thought about just doing a single day before but it seemed silly, but I think I needed perspective to see that it was the right move for me. I get to enjoy almost a full week relaxing in the city still, and have no red eye flights now so I'm gonna be fully rested to go real fucking hard for Chappell Roan > Four Tet > Yves Tumor > Fred again..
and I want all you fucks dancing with me. See y'all Sunday <3

depends on how the acid feels maybe! that sounds fantastic but I've seen Fred up close before and my Roo days may be drawing to a close, so dance-crying with y'all in the back of the field sounds pretty fantastic too

That really sucks to hear about volunteering. I did it from 2013-2018 and it was a 99% great experience. Especially if you're solo it's a great way to meet people. Bummer it's gotten that bad

Nice - Will definitely be dancing around in the field. Very excited.
19 years ago today at this time, I had just finished seeing Old Crow Medicine Show and was getting ready for a run of The Gourds > Drive By Truckers > Allman Brothers > Dave Matthews Band. I caught a little of the Brazilian Girls and Galactic but I was running on fumes and didn't make it to The Mars Volta or STS9.
Upcoming Shows: 11/8 - Goose @ The Andrew J. Brady Center 11/13 - Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros w/ The Wolfpack & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall 2/14 - Alan Walker @ The Fillmore Detroit 4/15 - Ben Folds w/ The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall
This was asked in the thread last year, what’s the one lyric you’re most looking forward to singing at the top of your lungs?
For me it’s EVERYBODY’S HANDS GO UP…… ANEYSTEYTHERRRRR
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown. Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Excited for TMV late night this year.
I went to all of those (and a couple other partial sets mixed in like John Prine and the end of Herbie Hancock I believe) and also tapped out after the start of Galactic but before TMV. So I too am very excited to get a redo on them late night.
