Both of those things can be true. I've seen Fred and it's a snooze fest.
Cool. I watched his livestream from Coachella and thought it looked really fun.
My excitement doesn't evaporate because someone on the internet said he's bad.
was that the fred again x four tet x skrillex set from 2023? very different from fred again solo "live" set.
i haven't seen a fred again live set, i've only watched some youtube vids, and all of those have been crappy phone videos, but still none of them have me particularly jazzed up about the set. i'll go in with an open mind though. i do like his music i'm just a bit concerned it'll be more emo than dancey.

I saw him solo and also with Four Tet and Skrillex. Both of them at coachella and both were awesome.
I’ve heard people say he’s gotten worse, but it kinda seems like many people have hard and fast rules about how an electronic artist isn’t allowed to have a song end. Like there has to be nonstop dancey transitions the whole time. I think I may just be someone that doesn’t subscribe to that at all. Many times he lets his songs end, there could be a pause like any other non-electronic act throughout the weekend, and then he will build up the next song, potentially slowly.
It’ll also definitely be emo for a lot of it. This whole style worked perfectly in a coachella tent. I’ll be curious to see how it plays for me when I’m double fisting with a group of friends by the beer tent a mile away. Could see it being more “come on get to it” whereas in the more intimate setting I was latching on to every movement and change of tempo.

No, it was his solo set from the year before. I loved it. Had a similar feeling to Chappell Roan this year where you are just watching someone blow up in real time. And i didn’t think it was overly emo

that's cool, happy to hear it. pretty sure Jaz also corrected me on this last time i was talking about it.
i have strong feelings about DJ sets and how they should be handled, i absolutely think transitions and non-stop dancing are a crucial part of that culture. like going from seeing DJs at voodoo or bonnaroo to going to my first Movement was eye-opening. like even between sets at movement sometimes the DJ will transition from the previous DJ and keep the beat going. pretty wild that you could be in the crowd and have no idea a new DJ has taken the stage.
but for a live set pauses between songs are fine, it's more like a traditional concert. in fact i remember a million years ago seeing Pretty Lights for the first time in a bar, when he was just him and a live drummer, he would stop inbetween every song. shit was still lit.

i'm sorry is it "everybody pile on postjack" day?? i didn't see that on my calendar. i'm trying my best to give the best bonnaroo information, this is in fact INFOroo. but whatever helps you sleep at night.

I thought "Inforoo" was one of those ironic names that we use only because "disinformation-roo" doesn't roll off the tongue as well.

I don't know if any correction is going on. A lot of people saw the 2023 coach stream and assumed that's what this set will be like so it was very worthwhile for you to ask.
I have a hard time understanding the differences. I'm pretty sure this will be considered a "live" set, which will involve some SICK finger tapping onto a machine here and there. And it will be 95% his own songs.

You see those fucking taps, bro?
I couldn't understand why people were so awwed by that then I took my elitist hat off and realize that 90% of the general public have no idea how music production works.
Still jealous of the PL sunrise set but I scored a 2 day Hampton for $75 so I can wipe my tears with all the cash I'm saving.

Roo needs to book more Japanese EDM artists for late night at WITW. Herbalistek and Allen Mock blew my mind at Suwannee recently. Would be dope sunrise vibes.

"correction" probably poor word choice on my part, what i meant is i'm skeptical as to how good the fred live set will be based on my limited viewing of phone videos, both you and jaz have actually seen the live set in person and said it is good.
i was also skeptical of the odesza live set based on youtube, turns out i had a great time last year at their set. but odesza's live set obviously has a lot more going on, fred looks like it's a big vertical screen and him tap tappin on machines.

I mean it's more physically impressive than no taps

y'all ever eat a donut in the morning and then later on your desk find a single sprinkle that fell off the donut and are like "ah i remember eating that donut, that was cool".

every time I've eaten a donut in adulthood (a lot of times) I've been mad about it 5 minutes later. How are they so well designed to hurt my tum

there is a local donut shop called Lick'n Good that makes donuts that don't hurt my stomach so long as i eat only one. the people who work there actually know me which is nice but i don't think it's a good thing really that i'm a regular at a donut shop. they also have an awesome sausage egg and cheese croissant which is really what gets me there, but i'm going to get a donut while i'm there.

did you eat the sprinkle?
No I threw it in the trash can. I love sprinkles but I need more than one sprinkle.
