If 2016 was the year they booked Dead & Company, then I heard from some deadhead that went (after I said I thought there'd be more of them there) that all were tapped out from some earlier big shows & Bonnaroo was expensive as hell, etc. etc.
Think they really thought the Heads would be there in droves and they weren't. My problem with Dead & Company was that they were making it a point during their tour to not play any song more than once during the tour. Thus, we only got 3 songs I'd ever heard of. Really pissed me off.
really? i guess i'm pretty big into the Dead but i felt like it was basically a greatest hits setlist. now i'm curious what songs you recognized if you don't mind sharing:
Know this has gotten you Rooers that like and are familiar with the Dead a bunch of laughs. I did recognize a few more songs when they were played. Like the one that goes 'got a wife in Chino and ...' Just don't know the song titles. The only Dead songs I really like are the 3 I mentioned plus 'The Golden Road' and 'Truckin' Do not really care for 'Touch of Grey'. So, out of the 5 Dead songs I like, they played one.
For me, 'Truckin', 'Casey Jones' and 'Touch of Grey' are the only ones I really know. I so so so so so wanted to hear 'Uncle Johns Band' and 'Saint Stephen' and 'Sugar Magnolia'. I feel (and this applies to all acts) that when you do a fest, you bring your best stuff, as you will be playing to alot of casual to 'never heard their stuff' fans.
Is this a bit?
All true. I don't get into the Dead at all. Just wish they'd played those songs, as it would have made the set better for me and other non-Deadnuts who do like those great songs and would have loved to have heard them.
To me, not playing quacking 'Uncle Johns Band' is like MGMT not playng 'Kids'. Which, BTW, they did at Bunbury around 2013. Crowd was very confused by end of set.

sorry not to go back to something that happened an eternity (aka 3 pages/4 hours ago) but how the fuck did manders manage to post the ghost of the Lightning in a Bottle lineup

probably right clicked on their website and hit copy image url, and it's just the text as a transparent image over the background for the whole site. It's happened with a few Danny Wimmer lineups too

[br Oh this is bad. Does Roo get Tiesto instead of Justice ?
No, I'd argue the fact that Justice is playing Thursday of EF makes them more likely for Bonnaroo since there's a shorter turnaround time between dates to move all their equipment around.
