Did anyone go to Bluegrass Situation? I’m so curious about who the guests were.
Fantastic evening, these were the guests:
Billy Bragg Wyatt Ellis Kaia Kater Alisa Amador Tony Trischka Rett Madison Andrew Bird Madison Cunningham John C Reilly Rhiannon Giddens Dirk Powell Langhorne Slim
With John C Reilly in town, I really hope my guess about “real musicians” being a bunch of actors and comedians who also dabble as musicians and have played musicians in movies and shows turns out to be true.

Damn, I was so sure Chris Thile was going to be there…maybe he won’t be one of the friends for Cory Wong then.
Another great day at the fest. Highlights: Oliver Hazard opener - They were a good band with a real appreciation for Newport. Told a great story of how he gradually got Newport to consider having their band play there. Billy Bragg - Practically more of a political rally than a set. Great commentary between songs coupled with great political songs. Woody cover - "Fascists Bound to Lose", a Seeger cover, and a great song about libertarians in NH. Loved the whole thing. Bertha - Fantastic. High energy, great Dead covers, everyone dancing the entire time. Was a lot of fun. Craigie/Slim: A lot of talking and storytelling but hits all the right spots. Langhorne brought his 1 year old son out and sang Happy Birthday to him and then he tried to steal the show while he sang "Song for Silver". Then, they had Jess from Lucius out and a couple of the bandmembers from The Lone Bellow then basically anyone else who wanted to join them for the last two songs: Craigie's "California" and then a great audience sing along of Blind Melon's "No Rain" to close down the Harbor. Was loads of fun. GIllian/Dave was really wonderful. Just the two of them for the most part doing their music. Mix of old songs and new. I love the guests and all, but it is just as great to have all the musicians sitting and appreciating the legends on stage. Only down side was that the place really thinned out. Was probaby half as many people as there was for Hozier if not fewer.
If a storm cancels the Conan set, will we ever find out who the guests were planned to be?
Storm…? Isn’t supposed to rain until 10
Rain is projected now starting between 5-7. A weatherman I follow says it was an unexpected frontal high that’ll now spin in some storms. (And could impact the trajectory of the brewing tropical system.) If you pull up Windy it almost looks like a little cyclone itself developing not far off the coast.
